The 3 plus hours our group spent walking through parts of Edinburgh where only 'those- in-the-know' go was not only edifying food-wise but was also filled to the brim with nonstop local knowledge from our backwards-walking encyclopedia named Skye.He was a compendium of knowledge spiced with goodly humour.Don't miss this tour!

Great way to see Edinburgh

I had a great time learning about Edinburgh, asking questions, and trying out various foods and drinks. This tour was a great chance to walk around, see the sights, and hear a bunch of recommendations as we went a long. Skye was very charismatic!

Highly recommend this tour!
Amazing time sampling native foods and listening to a great storyteller! It gave me a great sense of the city and its wonderful history. And at the end, got great recommendations for the rest of my stay.

A perfect food and drink walking tour!
Skye was an amazing guide. The depth of his knowledge of both history and food made this tour a 20 out of 5! The food and beverage choices were terrific!

Best Food Tour Ever!
Bert was so knowledgeable about not just the food but the history of Edinburgh. I had another tour that sorta clashed with the ending of the food tour but honestly I was having such a great time I decided to stay and skip the the other one. I HIGHLY recommend this tour for everyone visiting Edinburgh. Not to mention he is Hilarious

Great food and friendly guide, but well behind schedule
Guide was super friendly and knowledgeable, with great recommendations for other restaurants and places to go.
Unfortunately a number of other guests on the tour were very slow which drastically slowed down the overall trip. It’s marketed as a 3hour duration experience, and after 4 hours we had to leave the trip to join a different pre-booked tour, and even with an extra hour we ended up missing the last 2 stops on the tour.
Suggest that the guide be more diligent / proactive on getting the group moving on schedule, or you increase the suggested time for the trip.
Such a shame as the food and guide’s commentary was great!

Have a taste of Scotland in a day
I’d give this tour a 4.5 out of 5, but I’d be happy to round it up since our tour guide, Skye, went above and beyond. On the tour you’ll be walking in and around the Royal Mile and stop at 5+ different places to eat/drink. Each tour is different, but on ours, we had some Cullen skink, haggis with neeps and tatties, cranachan, a round of Scotch whiskey, and haggis pakoras. Everything was really good and definitely fills you up so all the walking helps.

Only room for improvement would be the large amount of stories/fun facts thrown in, much of it told while walking the busy streets. It’d be better to save the stories when we stopped at a point of interest and cut down the content to avoid information overload. Despite this, I’d round up my score to 5 since Skye is clearly passionate about giving people an amazing experience. He even went so far as adding an extra stop (tasty fudge) and surprising us with delicious scones and Scottish tablets at the end of our tour.

Amazing Edinburgh walking tasting tour with Skye

We did the Edinburgh walking tasting tour with Secret Food Tours and our guide was Skye. He was very knowledgeable about everything the area and history of Edinburgh. We were lucky enough to be the only couple on the tour that day because someone cancelled. So we essentially had a private tour of the city. We ate some wonderful Scottish food and really got to see a lot during our walking time. Would recommend this tour!

Bert is the best!

My mom and I went on this tour today and it was amazing! Our guide, Bert, was a wealth of information and took the time to explain the history of the streets we walked through and the stories of people who have lived here (as well as additional Scottish history). He also explained the history and importance of the food we ate on the tour. He was so fun and such a sweetheart and is truly a great storyteller! The food on the tour was also delicious and very filling! Bert was also great in providing us recommendations for other places to eat at or visit on our trip. I would definitely recommend anyone who is visiting to do this tour!
