The 112-feet bust of Adiyogi statue at Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. The Isha Yoga Center situated at the foothills of Velliangiri, on the outskirts of Coimbatore, is the headquarters for Isha Foundation. Isha is a sacred space for self-transformation, where you can come dedicate time towards your inner growth. The center offers all four major paths of yoga

Its a good place to spend time with your family. Statue is gigantic and is worth visiting once if you are coimbatore. It takes around 40 min drive from the city centre to reach there. You need to walk around half a kilometer to reach near the statue.

Isha yoga center is a place where you go to receive grace. There are many courses being conducted which one may do . Or just sit in silence and declutter our inner chaos. Dhyan linga attracts you like a magnet to sit for as long as you want. Ashram is so big , one can take long walks. Bhiksha hall is for food (Prasadam) where two meals a day are served. Isha shoppe is there to buy genuine products. Canteens are there inside if in case you still want to eat besides the two meals. Once you enter the ashram premises to stay, you can’t go out for the duration of your stay to the outside world (what a blessing though) I am speechless yet wants to say so much 🙏positive vibes only😇

The Isha Yoga Center is quite close to the Coimbatore city center - around 20+ KMS. Quick drive, and you get to see the awesome Siva statue, with a picturesque background with nature, mountains and lots of land. They got ample parking space, and also provide buttermilk to escape from the sweltering heat. Not to be missed if you're visiting Coimbatore.

Sadhguru said that Dhyanalinga is a consecrated and energised form which will remain like that forever, that kind of aroused my curiosity to visit this place.

We drove there from Bangalore on a Friday, started at 5 am in morning and reached there by 1:00 pm. Roads are excellent, so you really dont feel the strain and exhaustion. Not many restaurants on the way though except the Saravana bhavans.

Isha is a sprawling campus. You may get a little lost from where to enter, but ask people and they will guide you. They will take the keys of your car and park the car themselves.

Check in was bit confusing as there was no particular queue and you need just sit there and show up when the guy before you leaves the counter. The rooms are very good. Made of bricks, they are quite cool from inside. We stayed at Kavery complex. (Nadhi cotteges). They are very spacious too.

Food was wholesome and I liked that. They followed the timings strictly. you will be seating on the ground and have your food. There were a couple of restaurants too, should you like to have some more varieties.

Dhyanalinga entry was very well organised. You can take a dip in the pool (separate for men and women) before entering the Dhyanalinga dome. Once you enter, there were batches of 15 mins after which you can walk out. But if you want, you can remain seated and continue your meditation.

Now the point where I would like to give a feedback for improvement :

This is a huge place, but sufficient instructions are not readily available about the do and dont's and clarity on specific instructions at certain places was missing. Some places had specific instructions which if you are not aware, you may miss out. For example, nowhere it was mentioned that to take a bath, you need INR 20, so if you go there without your wallet (which I guess most of the visitors would prefer to do while strolling inside the ashram), then you would have to come back and take the money with you. Another example, there is a Nada aradhna which happens every day at the Dhyanalinga & if you want to witness that, you need to pay 700/-. Again this was not mentioned anywhere clearly, so if you are not carrying your wallet, you will miss that.

Post 9:30 PM, the security guards would push you back in your cotteges, even if you want to sit outside quietly on the ground or by the lotus pool for some more time.

My partner also gave not so good feedback about the condition of toilets near the back exit, which led to the Adiyogi statue.
Also the Chandra Kund water didnt seem to be very clean.

Barring these few points, overall the entire place is efficiently managed, and that too my volunteers who arent professionals. So full marks for that.
Most of the places were very neat and order was maintained in-spite of heavy rush of visitors.

I medidated at Dhyanalinga for some time, but no effect on me as I have not yet developed the antennae for receptiveness.

Would want to come back again later.

We stayed at the Nalanda block. Isha has various residential buildings with different names. They call it cottages but they are actually rooms. Our room was huge, clean and comfortable with a beautiful personal balcony, even beautiful public area with great view of the mountains. I enjoyed walking the huge grounds and the lovely property. Here are some tips which will tide you over, if you are a first time visitor, or a tourist.

1. Bring a small sling bag, you can put your phone, a credit card and pls do put some cash. The cash can come in very handy when you get tired of walking and enjoy a sukku coffee at their cafeteria or get tempted to buy something from the isha gift shoppe and they have some beautiful, gorgeous stuff. Also the cash can help you to take a bullock or battery operated ride from isha centre to adiyogi grounds and enjoy the mountains and mango trees on the way.
2. Pls wear decent footwear or if you can, pls choose to walk barefoot. I had to deposit my shoes 4-5 places, but it was no problem at all. No one steals your footwear, even on a public holiday and the staff is very courteous and kind. Avoid heels , I touched 20K footsteps on my fitbit the day I was staying and I was happy. For elderly there are battery operated cars that can be requested. For younger people there are cycles at many places which can be used to go around.
3. The food--the BHIKSHA hall serves only 2 community meals a day. AT 10 and 10.45 am and at 7 or 7.45pm. The food is wholesome, healthy and awesome. For those who are in the habit of snacking or tea/coffee can visit the cafe near gift shoppe but pls remember it runs out of food after 6pm. There is a big restaurant opposite the entry snake gate of the ashram and it is open till late night.
4. Don't stick to only Dhyanlinga, kunds, adiyogi but do explore the ashram respecting their rules. I enjoyed a beautiful evening at their lotus pond. The walk to Adiyogi was full of clear skies and numerous neem and mango trees. There are coconut and palm trees everywhere outside the ashram. Try everything, breathe the clean air.If you are staying overnight, visit dhayanlinga during their evening nadha aradhana at 5.45, where they play music. I am usually not moved by meditation or spiritual practices, but I really enjoyed listening to that music in the peaceful, elliptical shrine.
5. The ashram's rooms are self service, so pls do not accept room service etc. Water filters are placed at strategic intervals and you can fill your own water. Surprisingly there are no mosquitoes even though they have 2-3 ponds and very few insects. I have stayed in various nature lodges and open land facilities but I am surprised to have no creepy crawly encounters here. Maybe it was the hot month, MAy and monsoon will be a different story all over.Carry your mosquito repellant just in case.
