Kinnagoe Bay is one of those gems off the beaten path but once you get there, you can see why it's so popular. Driving towards it from a height, you can look down on this golden beach surrounded by hills it's like a mirage coming from the windy roads above.

Kinnagoe bay has a stunning setting and on a sunny day the water is a beautiful colour inviting you to swim. It is rarely crowded and split up into smaller bays by rocks, some of which have a very interesting formation and there are rockpools to explore. It is off the wild Atlantic way and there is history attached as the site where the wreck of La Trinidad Valencera, a Spanish Armada ship, was found over 50 years ago. More details about that can be found in the Tower museum in Derry.
However it is not perfect! -
Access is via a steep single track road with hairpin bends and only one passing place
The carpark is small and there are often campervans staying
There are no public toilets
The sand is coarser than most Donegal beaches and home to jumpy little translucent creatures which can be annoying.
Despite these faults it is still a lovely place to spend a few hours.

What a beautiful wee bay. Of the beaten track. Road very bendy and just space for 1 vehicle. Worth it though views are beautiful on a good day.. Go early gets very busy. Small car park.

This is the most beautiful beach .. it is up there with the best. We visited in August and it was raining on the way but it cleared up as we arrived.. photos don't do it justice. If you get the chance to visit you won't regret it. Drive up and down is a bit tight. Water is crystal clear and so inviting. Rocks on the beach are very interesting. Small beach but worth the drive.

This beach was absolutely, mind blowingly beautiful, and we had it all to ourselves! This was definitely my favorite beach in Ireland - no contest!

Worth a visit, even with the slightly scary road down to it! Even though we visited on a very raininy day, it was worth it, I'd love to come back in the sunshine!

Wow😮, what a breathtaking hairpin bend approach to a breathtakingly beautiful beach. The sandy beach scattered with rocks is lovely. Pity about the rubbish dumped in the small carpark though. I'm a firm believer in leaving no trace at our beauty spots so this saddened me greatly. My husband went for an 'invigorating' dip here. I watched with our two little ones. There was someone camping here, other swimmers, couples, families and dog walkers too. Lifebuoys in situ. Would recommend and will return but hopefully the rubbish will be addressed🤞🙏

Kinnagoe Beach is truly a little gem & is different from many of the beaches in Donegal in that it's smaller & more sheltered & surrounded by tree lined cliffs. It has very unusual sea worn rock formations, which are well worth exploring. The sand is golden which is typical of the fabulous beaches of Co Donegal. It's about halfway between Greencastle & Ballymagaraghy. Access is limited as the road is extremely steep close to the beach, so campervans beware!!

When your leaving Kinnagoe Bay take the costal road and follow it to Malin Head, fantastic scenery on route and walkways when you get to Malin Head.

Gorgeous beach, with the sun behind you and clear water; perfect for swimming followed by sitting on the rocks absorbing the whole place. A tight but short drive off the main road with a few hairpin bends - but the reward is a fairly deserted stretch of white sand. For me, the best spot is the far end, looking back towards the entrance, but that’s just being picky.
For those who care, there are no public amenities here - just fresh air and bracing sea. Snorkelling ok.

Late response. But for anyone else interested... Pass north through Muff until you reach Moville. About half way up the main road in Moville turn left for Carndonagh. About 3 miles out this road turn right (signposted for Kinnagoe Bay) about half a mile after this turn right at the crossroads and follow straight for roughly 3 miles. You will arrive.
