FIRE PITS are far too deep. You can't even see your fire except through a small hole in the steel. C'MON !!!!
MUSEUM is great. Lots of exhibits. It is every bit as good as the one near the east gate of Algonquin.

We stopped in for a day visit to do some canoeing and fishing. The park is very nice well maintained and the staff are very friendly. The only negative is that it is close to Highway 11 and you do hear the traffic on the road esp during the day when it is busy.

A great park for camping. Clean, staff are great. Sites can be close together, however very well treed. The roads are mostly paved. Slight highway noise. Fantastic sunsets.

Marten River has two campgrounds with a mix of electric and non-electric sites. We stayed in the Chicot campground and had a very spacious site that was private and wooded. There was a small beach across from our site. We had site #62, and the sites along this stretch are good, with paths to the beach and close proximity to the comfort station. The entire park has lots of trees. The staff member who checked us in was great! There was cell reception. The hiking trails are interconnected; they all start at the same trailhead and then you follow the colour of the trail you want to do (yellow 0.8 km, red 3.5 km, blue 4.2 km, orange to exit). We did the red trail, which was called the Old Growth Trail. Lots of huge pine trees and a lot of roots and rocks on the trail. Other than being able to hear some highway noise, the park was quiet and peaceful.

Camping @ Marten River site #5 - Family of 5.
The good: site 5 is right by the river, very nice to be able to walk down to the river and skip some stones and relax or watch a family of ducks swim by. Nice enough beach and hiking trails. Showers (unisex) were cleaner than other Ontario Park sites I've been too. Men's washrooms were clean.
The bad: The site is uneven but we managed as best we could with our tent.
Woman's washrooms not as clean as the mens (a first in my experience). Women's washroom tp was not refilled in one stall for several days.

Truely a pure camping experience. Take the extra time to drive here, it's worth it. I've seen a lot of ontario parks and this is one of my favorites.

The fitting place to end our Odyssey and I do love this park it's booked 3 times more this summer

My favorite provincial park with a fabulous electric waterfront site. Mature trees beautiful views. Had a spot right on the waterfront mostly private. Noisy people next door into the night thank goodness for a noisy air conditioner ruiner when we got inside

Nice Ontario Provincial Park. Range of sites, some with electrical, good privacy. Two beaches are good for kids. Boat launches exist. The hiking trails were closed ( Aug 5/31) possibly because of fallen trees, which were being addressed on Aug 6/21. Potable water was not available for trailer refill (Aug 6/21). At night, you can hear traffic along the highway.

Park itself is very nice. Very private campsites. Maintenance is really lacking and staff are rarely seen. Hence the poor maintenance. Overall it could be on the list of top parks if they cleaned up they're act.

Hi are there any bears and foxes in this park that I should be concerned about? Also I read that it's close to the highway so do you hear any cars and trucks passing by? Thanks!

Saw absolutely no wildlife. Assinika campground does get the hwy noise but other than Jake brakes it really isn't too bad
