We were in Hana for a few days and this was near the top of our list for places to visit. It was not that easy to find, we had to really study Google earth and street view to find a landmark that would point us to the street to turn down to get to the church and grave site, however, once we got there, it was a very peaceful, well maintained, beautiful spot to spend some time. There is a small parking lot, and most likely you will be joined by small Hana day tour busses stopping by, but they don't stay long and are not disruptive. There are no bathrooms or areas to sit, so this is better as a stop rather than a destination.

The beautiful Palapala Ho’omau Church and final resting place of Charles Lindbergh is a moving and great place to rest and reflect on this man’s spectacular life while soaking in the beauty of the church in all its simplicity and the majestic vista of the Pacific Ocean. Watch the signs as it is easy to miss. We used the Gypsy/Ride Along app this trip which made it easy to find - it is not very far past the Pools of ‘Ohe’o in the Haleakala National Park. We love sitting inside the church and taking in the views. We turned around at this point and started heading back. I highly recommend including this site on your list of places to stop while on the Road to Hana (and beyond.)

We are from Minnesota and often drive by Little Falls, Minnesota, the site of Charles Lindbergh’s boyhood home. When we were on our snorkeling tour yesterday, about half of the younger crowd on the boat knew who Charles Lindbergh was. He was the first person to fly across the Atlantic Ocean and was, unfortunately, famous when his baby was kidnapped and murdered. He was as famous as Princess Diana, but in America, at that time in history. A famous, but troubled life, hounded by the press. The burial site is a remote and somewhat treacherous drive, about eight miles further from the end of the road on the drive to Hana. It’s the same paved quality as the road to Hana, just a little further. So, is it worth it? Two thumbs up. Well worth doing and it has little to do with Charles Lindbergh. This quiet church and fabulous overlook is free and phenomenal and best of all, there are no people there. There is a National Park right next door if you wish to camp and picnic. You feel the souls of those who are buried there, it hits you the minute you get out of the car. Tour vans don’t go here and there is nobody else, but you. We highly recommend leaving for Hana very early from your hotel, driving here and then eating and stopping to see the road to Hana sites on the way back. There is a waterfall near here and you can do that, fulfilling your waterfall craving. It’s on the road south of Hana on the way to the gravesite. Stop at HuliHuki Chicken at the bottom of the little circle road that goes down to the seashore in Hana. Bring cash on this entire excursion as there is no internet on the road to Hana and they don’t take cards. Bring your own food, beverages and snacks. Unbelievable, this is a must do. Don’t tell anybody.

We visited while on the Reverse Road to Hana, and it's a very cool stop, although a little hard to find. The church is open for visitors, thankfully, and it's a lovely cemetery to walk around. Beyond the cemetery is a little park.

Just visited it yesterday. We drove to Hana along the north shore & continued for 10-11 miles more to the church & graveside. Only a small sign on the left located on the entrance road to the church designates the entrance to the church--- no sign directs to the grave. Drive straight past the church into a small field.. A small stone wall separates that field from the cemetery. Lindbergh''s grave is located in the area at the rear of the small cemetery next to the wide grassy area that separates the graves from the seaside cliff. His friend 's wife , his friend & monkeys are buried about 20 yards directly behind Lindbergh's grave near the rear corner of the church. After our visit we completed our drive to loop the trip around the eastern end of Maui. We drove a medium size 4-5 seat sedan the entire way. Parts of the road were in rough shape and narrow but none of it was impassable

A very somber but beautiful place to visit while in Maui. Supposably Charles Lindbergh was against the United States entering World War 2, So he moved to the territory of Hawaii.
Not the easiest drive: but if you can take the road to Hana- you should be able to take the drive to the church. You can barely see the church from the road. He is buried in the small cemetery behind it, Lots of beautiful scenery at this location. You are welcome to go inside the church located by the graveyard.

Whether you agreed with Lindbergh or not on his views of the world, the man was a force to be reckoned with when alive. I am surprised that his grave is so simple and hidden away.
The grave of Sam Pryor, Lindbergh's friend and fellow aviation pioneer, and his monkeys are nearby.

This place is not marked and no one will really tell you how to get here. I had been here once before about 30 years ago so knew about it. If you google map it you know just what to do. The grave is at a Congregational church on a back one lane road. There is no signage so you have to be prepared before going. There were tour vans here.

The church graveyard is hard to find unless you use Google maps. I did have cell service in this area, so that was possible. It's a simple gravestone, but the setting is awesome.

For fun, before making the trip to the grave behind the Congregational Church, do a little history research to find why Charles decided this would be his final resting spot. Dig into who his friend was that is also buried here. It is kind of like the rest of the story. Then you will know the backstory about the animals (pets) also buried in the cemetery a bit closer to the church. If a person has the time, spending a few minutes here is worth it. If you are not on a guided tour do a little research first though because there are no brochures or other fact boards, what have you. Definitely check out the pictures attached to the trip advisor info on both the grave and the church. They may help you make up your mind.

Are you able to turn left off the Hana Highway and park at the church to view his grave?
Escrita el 28 de diciembre de 2016
Depending on the day and the time you happen to stop at the church will determine just how close you can park. Just remember it's exactly one mile (1.6kms) from the sacred pools (that aren't sacred).
