The Dog & Partridge Pub was a great pub my twin brother Stephen and I chanced upon as we were wandering around this part of town and what a great find.
A beautiful pub,the interior is cool ,a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room ,great decor and furnishings, tv's to enjoy the sport and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, love the bird cage table settings, its just a wonderful looking pub and a historic pub dating from around late 18th century.
We were here on a Tuesday late afternoon, greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of the bar team, we ordered a real ale at the bar and we both opted to have Barnsley Brewery bitter, served in excellent condition, we just kicked back and took in the great pub we were in .
Bitter was really good, malty and consistent from the first sip till the last sup, served iced cold and on a hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew.
We really enjoyed our bitters in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to The Dog & Partridge Pub we were totally impressed.
The Dog & Partridge Pub is easy to locate along Trippet Lane.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Thursday, 4pm till 11pm.
Friday & Saturday, Midday till 11.30pm.
Sunday, Midday till 10pm.
A great pub, mostly definitely well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Well firstly people please, come on, read the bloody description of the listing. This is the Dog and Partidge in the centre of Sheffield; not a countryside inn out on the Moor somewhere. It's not even using your initiative; merely your eyes.

Anyway, despite having lived in Sheffield for over a year now, I did not visit this pub until last month, perhaps because of the slightly run down exterior. However, I heard through the grapevine that a session had recently started up on Wednesday nights in the back room; so I decided to pay it a visit.

I was surprised to find a very friendly local pub with character, despite the slightly dated carpet and decoration, spread out over a series of small rooms partitioned off from each other. The landlord is a very friendly guy, as are all his staff. They have a decent selection of four ales: three rotating plus a Black Sheep. I now visit semi-regularly, and I am very happy that I finally gave it a try!

This is technically an Irish bar but you wouldn't know it. A lovely atmosphere with different seating areas to enjoy the good selection of beers

Stopped there for lunch lovely pub grub and they do gluten free food. Plenty of tables and helpful staff. If you're hungry try the streak and ale pie

Visited the D & P for the first time in 40 years. Went for a sandwich and drinks at lunchtime. Very busy with a great old fashioned feel. The sandwich was more a doorstop, massive and very tasty. Drinks good, service brilliant. Feels more like a village pub rather than a city centre one. Highly recommend

I first drank in here 34 years ago (on my 16th birthday) and it was famous for being an Irish pub. Not the O’Neil’s style Irish pub but a place where the Guinness was brought over from Dublin and the cling film covered cheese sandwiches were a meal in themselves. People would turn up with guitars and sing Black Velvet Band and Dirty Old Town and other songs that allowed everybody to join in. The pictures were of JFK and the famine and it was a place for conversation and fun.

I called in on my 50th birthday a few weeks ago when I was visiting Sheffield and it looks like there is new management. The Guinness pumps were no longer pride of place and the Guinness I drank was average to say the least. The bar maid was really lovely but the music was modern and the atmosphere was lacking, I got the impression it was trying to compete with the bars on West Street. Hopefully I am wrong and my brief visit was a one-off but the fact that it was more or less empty while The Grapes next door was pretty full makes me think that the changes are not for the better.

Enough said really, one if Sheffield city center's best pubs if you just want to relax and have a pint.
Out of the way of town. And a little less known. And no pretentiousness.
Well worth heaing of the beaten track of West st to check out the D&P

If you are passing trippet lane then pop into this great little pub. The decor is plain and basic with little snugs to hide away in. There's one bar with a range of beers and ales. They do serve food but on this occasion it was a case of a few drinks with friends. The staff are friendly and they also gave open nights where artists can come in and play their music. Good atmosphere frequented by all ages. Enjoy.

Called in for half a jar when passing. Lovely oldey worldey pub with little snug room, darts board and very friendly staff. Nice ales. Most of pub kept to original layout although some parts are newer. They serve tapas but didn't partake. Will try next time cus will defo go again when in Sheffield.
