I've never been to this zoo before, so don't know what it used to be like, but our visit today it was most disappointing. A lot of the things seemed to be a bit run down, and many of the cages did not look at all clean. I find myself agreeing with sentiments aired by CheshPotts in their review from last August. I would not recommend a visit to this zoo ...

A very pleasant collection of animals and exotic birds in a manageable flat area. The bears were hiding but the 3 sweet Asian otters made up for that. Great to see storks at close hand. The cafe was a bonus. Not too much we wanted to buy in the shop and there can be a queue for the loos. Easy parking and in lovely surroundings. Perhaps the reception staff could be a bit more enthusiastic.

Absolutely amazing place, loads of cool animals to see and great open space which is relaxed and engaging. Great for the kids too.

Great zoo, highly worth a visit. Lots of animals, took us around an hour to walk around. The only bad part was we went to the cafe afterwards and ordered a childs meal, this was brought out on a plate that was beyond dangerously hot for a kid.

Lovely small zoological park. So nice to see well cared for animals with a baby and toddler and great for little ones to toddle about. Delightful to see animals expressing natural behaviour (all looked well cared for, lots of enrichment in enclosures and no signs of stereotypic stress behaviours) and charming for little visitors. Keepers were engaging and knowledgeable about the individual animals personalities. We’ll definitely be back. Only downside was a lack of dairy free snacks at the cafe, but will bring a picnic next time.

I have visited Camperdown on occasions for decades and know the Wildlife Centre used to be really great. It was always basic animal stuff, but everything was well maintained and the animals were in clean enclosures. There used to be a walkway out over the deer field, which was actually really lovely and I never saw arctic foxes anywhere else; so I liked seeing these. BUT none of the above applies now and our visit was actually depressing - knowing how it used to be and seeing it now was genuinely upsetting. The high/ solid bed of weeds and nettles in the base of most cages is appalling - clearly demonstrating they are not cleaned, but the smell gives that away too. The animals all looked extremely sad and thoroughly bored. I have never seen such a depressed looking anteater. It paced in a circle inside (the door was open) and it clearly had problems with its fur. Old signs dotted around the centre to remind us of avion flu, but the animal welfare here is clearly questionable. We saw no sign of keepers. There was nothing positive to take away from the visit other than a baby gibbon. I hope animal welfare get involved with the park as they need to. Dundee District Council need to go and take an unannounced look round. That is what visitors to the city are seeing and it is sad and awful. The showpiece bears have a larger enclosure but when we visited their stimulation came only from some very broken traffic cones. They too looked bored. We were all bored and left. We went to the cafe too and it was terrible - the soup was tastless and cold. But, at least we could leave and go elsewhere - the animals in the Centre's care are stuck with them.

First time visiting as part of a group. It was nice to see the animals around the centre. Although it was rather like a ghost town. A lot of enclosures were empty. The otter enclosure had a broken wooden fence. When we reported this on our way out. The staff weren't convinced. The big greenhouse at the top. It had lots of birds in it. You couldn't even see them. Because the windows were so dirty. Lots of overgrown weeds. It's a shame to see the way it was.

I have many happy memories of taking my own children here and thought we would take our grandchildren. Such a let down. The place looks so unloved and grubby.

We were lucky enough to see the three bears who looked good, the mercats and the otters. The gibbons were great and a few birds and the tortoises. That was it. I thought the other pens were all empty but was told by a member of staff that they only have one empty enclosure just now. That may be true. The weeds round the enclosures are so bad that the animals could have been camouflaged behind them. The gardener was out and was weeding, and what a difference it made to the small area he had done but he has his work cut out for him - good luck to him. Major repairs are needed on some of the fencing around the site as it is very unsecured.

We went to the restaurant for soup and tea. Seven people behind the counter and the service was so slow. After a long wait the soup arrived..cold, tasteless and only half cooked. The lentils were so hard we could note bite some of them. My granddaughter, who loves all soups, just kept spitting it out.

Left there and went to the play parks. Great with lots to do. Could spend a day here with the kids ands they would not get bored.

Camper down park is a lovely place and Dundee is lucky to have this so close to hand. Pity the wildlife centre and cafe lets it down.
