Aw Rory, thanks so much for your very kind review...we are indeed authentic, current building being 106 years old. Thankfully owners/staff are a wee bit younger lol. Glad you enjoyed your visit, hopefully see you again soon

Had a wonderful time in this friendly family run pub and I must say has one of the best pints of Guinness I have upped. Was there on Saturday 11th May in the afternoon and returned again that night for some local entertainment. Obviously we had to go back again on the Sunday night and although quiet we were made very welcome. Thank you for the lovely time on our 40th wedding anniversary

We recently celebrated our wedding “day two” in Mc Gowan’s Bar. Neil and Jacqui were wonderful hosts and so accommodating ensuring that they had live music in the bar for us and even offering to collect a take away if we got hungry! The quality of the pints of Guinness deserve a special mention as some of our guests are planning many return visits to sample those again. A lovely pub with an amazing atmosphere. Thank you!

We had the best time in McGowans bar. The atmosphere was brilliant. The barman was so friendly. Giving us loads of advice on where to visit. We were made feel very welcome with our children.

Sourced out the bar for Wedding Day 2 celebrations after the previous day/night at the Redcastle Hotel. Spoke with the owners of the bar (Jacqui & Neil) a few weeks beforehand and they were more than helpful in accommodating our group of about 50people. They organised live music for us all and had sport in the tv beforehand.
A 10min walk from the doors of the Redcastle Hotel. Footpath along the main road for majority of the walk also. You can also arrange to order in takeaway food like pizzas etc and they are more than happy to accommodate that also. Guinness is great also, best pints all weekend and the price of drink is very reasonable too.
A typical Irish country pub that is very relaxed and laid back. A brilliant nights craic and would highly recommend contacting them if a group of people staying over after wedding in the hotel.

We were staying in Redcastle Hotel and discovered this gem of a bar a short walk away across the street.
Neil who was behind the bar was so welcoming and made some recommendations of sites to visit and places to eat locally. After a few drinks and games of pool we departed to get dinner.
A really friendly bar worth visiting, I would recommend it if you’re staying in the area!

I went to McGowans with my friends and family the day after my wedding which took place in the Redcastle Hotel. The owner could not have been more accommodating. He even organised Karaoke for us!! It was the perfect size for a party especially with the beer garden out the back.
If you are in Redcastle or Moville do not miss the opportunity to have a drink in this pub. It's the best craic I've had in a long time. Staff are lovely, the regulars are sound, there was a great selection of drinks and the music was quality! It's right across the road from the Redcastle hotel too which was great as no taxis were needed.
