I took my mum here on Mother’s Day! It was a lovely atmosphere and the Jazz band is a great touch. The restaurant itself is quaint and pretty. The staff were very friendly and attentive.

There were a few things that could have been improved upon but the staff quickly sorted them out. The Camembert that came out was cold so it was not soft on the inside as it should have been. The staff went and changed this pretty quickly. They could have given fresh paper menus as the ones they gave us were covered in oil and crumpled. Nonetheless, it did not overshadow the experience as it was lovely.

This was a very pleasant surprise. We liked the concept with a set menu, and that everyone was served together. The food was really tasty and the portions were just right for us; we liked the little twists with the matzo crackers and the glass of Bailey’s; they made it fun! Amazing value for money; less than £30 each including a drink and a coffee! We will definitely be making more trips to the Lighthouse!

Our only regret is that there was a bit of a cold draft, but maybe it’s difficult to avoid in February on the harbour arm…:-)

After sitting outside for a couple of hours next to the lighthouse, enjoying the sea view with some chambord royals (divine)! We came across this bar which was warm and playing jazz. We managed to get the only free seat which was directly in front of the band. We enjoyed the music and atmosphere so much we ordered some food. Shortly after, they asked us to move from our seats as a group of four was coming in. The place they directed us to had two tables made for four, I questioned as to why the people who just arrived couldn’t move there as we were enjoying the band and had just ordered food, to which she said they had reserved the table which would have been nice to know before we’d settled in.

We moved to the seats where we could no longer see the band, our food which was lovely (ham and cheese crepe we would recommend, bread and olives had no oil or butter accompaniment though) finished our drinks and left. We felt uncompensated for the fact we were asked to move and staff seemed aloof.

After a blistering walk from Sandgate to Folkestone, stopping for a glass of Chapel Down here was lovely. Tiny bar with about six tables but loads of character and atmosphere even on a blustery January afternoon. Others were having hot toddies after the windiness outside. Nearby down the steps is the Anthony Gormley figure too

We had lunch there on Saturday - I wanted somewhere that offered light bites for lunch, and this place delivered just that!
When we first walked in, we were warmly welcome by the staff. The decor is very nice - quite quirky which I love! We were given time to go through the menu, which was great. Our drinks were ordered and served quickly. Loved the extensive drinks menu. We ordered the charcuterie platter, a Jambon crepe with cheese and the smoke salmon pate. All of them were very nice! For us, the portions were just right.
Unfortunately, one of the staff was a bit too keen and removed our plates away from the table, within seconds of us putting our cutlery down...which made us feel rushed. The place wasn't too busy, so there was no need for it really.... I would also have happily ordered a dessert, but no-one bothered asking....So we just got the bill and left.
Had I not felt rushed and been looked after once our mains had been cleared out, I would have given this place a 5* review.
It won't stop us from going back as I genuinely liked the decor, the food, the location. And it is very dog-friendly!

Spent a couple of hours here on a very blustery afternoon. Outdoor seating could do with a serious tidy up, almost impossible to leave your glass on the uneven table surfaces without it tippling over, which means you are constantly holding it.

Staff were pleasant, but we were a little lost when we went into order as it want not clear what was available, we eventually found a very tatty drinks menu.

We ordered a bottle of the local sparkling wine which at £55 was steep for what it was.

Our first visit planned after a walk along the North Downs.

It’s some time since we’ve been to Folkestone and it was a pleasant surprise. The food at the Lighthouse was spot on for a relaxing Saturday lunch over a bottle of wine!

We were celebrating our dads 80th birthday and could not have chosen a better setting than the tasting rooms on the harbour arm . Simon and his wonderful team welcomed us and we’re so attentive . As a party of 15 we were very much looked after and the food was delicious
Thank you we will be back

Shhh! Keep this a secret. I don’t want it to get too crowded. This is between us, right?!
Seriously though, a cracking venue, with the friendliest young staff - genuinely warm and welcoming - great quality food and drinks, and live music to add to the ambience. We popped in for an early lunch and dragged our heels until 4pm to enjoy the jazz trio and more wine, beer, coffee and, well, anything to delay our departure! There’s a genuine continental bistro feel, and continuous great smells wafting from the kitchen. We’re booking our next weekend in Folkestone as soon as poss, to enjoy dinner here. All the food was first class but don’t miss the fruits de mer chowder!
Don’t walk past, go in and see for yourself (as we did the previous day, when we were welcomed in to ‘take a look’, by one of the charming waitresses). Book a table, and dive in. You won’t be disappointed!

Fab location at the end of the Harbour Arm.
Good selection of champagne and a beautiful view of the sea. Lovely atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Friendly staff

There was a long queue to get served but that’s to be expected as only a small bar area. Only thing I can think of for improvement would be to have a Fri an menu as lots of people spent time deciding what to drink once they go to the bar (us included) as didn’t know what the options etc were.
We had two glasses of pink fizz for £22.

We would come again.
