This temple complex may be reached either by auto or cycle-riksa from Chinsurah railway station of E.Rly (about 5 Km) or from Kakinarah Rly station on the other side of the river and then crossing the river by country boat. The complex is located on the bank of the river Ganges( also named Hooghly river). In the complex there are several temples out of which the Sandeswar Shiva Linga temple deserves special mention. The town of Chinsurah was a creation of the Netherland East India company who came here and established the colony in the early part of seventeenth century.. It was a forlorn place prior to the arrival of the Dutch and perhaps a handful of fishermen used to live in the river side. They say that the fishermen fishing in the river happened to find the Siva Linga in their net and took them to install the deity within a thatched hut near a burning ghat which was later shifted about 100 metres in the south. In course of time the Linga was housed in a brick built building .Other temples of Kali , Durga etc came to be set up later. The annual festival in the month of March-April (Chaitra ) is known as ' Gajan festival ' draws a large number of visitors to see the dancing ritual of the sannyasis (Gajan ). A fare is held in the month of April-May every year and runs about a month. Sandeswar Shiva has a proud possession--it is brass made drum gifted to the deity by then Dutch Governor. The tourist may enquire the detailed story in this account. There is constant flow of pilgrims from the local people which swell during the annual festival. The temple was renovated in 20th century.

Situated at the banks of the River Ganges. From Kolkata (Howrah) by train, it takes about 1 hour to reach Chuchura Station. From there, take TOTO/AUTO (straight)/Bus (route 1) and either stop directly at Sandeswartala or at Ghorir More. From Ghorir More, take TOTO / Rickshaw to there. White temple and calm atmosphere attracts pilgrimage.
