We had a great day with Nora. Loved meeting the goats and she and Samantha laid out a great lunch spread. All sourced locally and tremendously tasteful. We even got a last minute in on herding some stray goats and that was fun. I enjoyed the stories and history of change she’s seen in the town. Her shop has great items from her cashmere wool that are worth picking up. Definitely worth a brief respite from wines ( but you get some at lunch!)

Our family did the Shepherd for the Day experience and it was amazing. Imagine walking with a herd of 70+ goats through fields that abut vineyards, stopping for a wine tasting mid way and returning to a lunch of salami, cheeses, salad and fruit. This was fun for all ages (especially cuddling the 4-day old kid) and we also learned about how cashmere is combed, collected and turned into shawls. Nora is warm, generous and very knowledgable.

I had an amazing time visiting Chianti Cashmere for the “Shepard for a day experience”. Our visit started with a home-made lunch spread of fresh bread and cheese, cured meats, and delicious salad and fruit. After our meal, Nora brought out some of the baby goats - they were adorable and everyone in the family got to hold one and have a little cuddle. Afterwards, Nora guided us (and all of her goats!) on a walk in the Italian countryside. At the end of the walk, while the goats grazed, we went to a wine tasting at the nearby vineyard. I had an amazing time and would recommend this experience to anyone visiting Chianti.

My wife and I booked a 'goat herder for the day experience' with Dr. Nora. After introducing us to her extremely friendly dogs, who were the best girls, we changed into some boots to make walking easier and were off. Besides the most amazing views in Chianti, this one of a kind experience was super fun. We walked next to some of the world's best wineries, and learning more about Dr. Nora's life experiences, how the goats live, eat and breath, and what its like owning the biggest cashmere goat farm in all of the EU was a lot of fun.

Half way through the herding, she'll send you off to a near by winery for a tasting of local Chianti wine while the goats rest and eat for an hour. That too was great.

After the tasting, we herded the gaots back to her farm (about a 1.2 - 1.5 mile walk) she served up an amazing italian lunch made from almost entirely locally sourced foods.

After lunch we checked out her cashmere shop and left with an amazing scarf and one of the softest blanket we've ever felt. Also don't forget to try the goat mixes soaps.

This experience is one of a kind, and totally worth it. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend if you're looking to try something different in the region.

WARNING: WORST HOST WE HAVE EVER MET: thief, arrogant, jaded and poor communicator. Bottom line is that She stole our money.

Let me begin, we consider ourselves experienced travelers with over 40 countries under our belts. This is the first negative review that we have ever written.

We booked the Chianti Cashmere Farmhouse in April 2019 for a family vacation with our infant and parents 3 months prior to our stay. A week after the reservation was made, Nora, the host, confirmed that she could provide a crib for our 8 month old son.

10days before our stay, we receive a message from Nora stating there was an issue with our booking: the number of people on our reservation was incorrect and presence of a child was a concern. She then mentioned that the house was not suitable for kids because of stairs despite having agreed to host us 3 months prior and clearly marked on her homeaway profile that kids were accepted. She then didn’t answer our emails confirming whether or not our reservation was ok for many days and when we tried contacting her via emails and phone, we didn’t get a response. She finally replied days later that she was extremely busy and had better to do than answer our emails. We had another rude and unpleasant email exchange inquiring about air conditioning or fans at the property (given we travelled during the heat wave) and we felt like we were bothering her with our requests. We told her that her messages were not making us feel welcome and she offered to refund us if we were unhappy with the stay. We took her up on that and asked for a refund. And then... worst thing happened.. COMPLETE SILENCE for over a week.

We contacted her repeatedly via email, phone without success. Her phone number on the homeaway website was inactive. Despite many hours on the phone with homeaway’s customer service, she could not be reached by anyone. And nothing could be done for us by the homeaway team until we were denied access to the property... as per their « travel with confidence » policy. We finally decided to write a last email stating that we will show up at the property has we haven’t received any refund or any news on her behalf.

On the day of our reservation, we showed up at the Chianti cashmere farm given that our reservation was still active according to the homeaway team. We met Nora, who look disheveled and who was as condescending as we expected. She denied our family (including elderly people and infant) access to her property... stating we wouldn’t enjoy it anyways.. but she had our money in her pocket and still had not refunded us. When we asked her about it, she lied to us and said homeaway had said we cancelled the booking. We never did, and we have all the paper trail to prove it.

Needless to say, we had a terrible experience. She stole our money (still on this day, never refunded us) ruined a part of our vacation and left us without a roof, empty pocketed.

I would stay AS FAR AWAY as possible from her if you want a pleasant, hassle free vacation. We even had a couple of exchanges with the locals and they clearly stated that she was a not trustworthy person.

Trust me, there are many amazing places to stay in Tuscany, we spent many weeks there and loved every minute which didn’t involve interacting with that host. We are taking the time to write this to help out the travelling community and specially young parents travelling with an infant.

I will be brief: the Young lady in question is totally in the wrong, and has lied egregiosly on the above review, as she did during the booking process We have written proof of her cancellation, and the Home Away team, after reviewing the situation, confirmed that she was not entitled to a refund. We have rented our farmhouse since 1988 and this is the first time we have ever had a problem with a guest There is very little else to say - I would suggest to any property owners to be aware: I imagine she will use the same smear tactics in similar situations

Today my wife and I visited Cashmere Chianti Goat Farm. This was and will forever be one of our highlights of visiting Italy. We learned of the history of Nora and Cashmere Chianti, visited with goats, had a great lunch (Nora doesn’t give herself enough credit!), explored her shop, and just enjoyed interacting with Nora and the other guests. Cashmere Chianti is not only worth visiting, but if you are close, a place you shouldn’t miss. Nora....one amazing lady! Oh, the goats are pretty cool too!

Was happy to find out that the goat farm was not far from where we were staying. After reading all the good reviews we decided to visit.
Well what a waste of time. We found Nora to be quite unfriendly and slightly rude. Maybe she was overwhelmed but nothing at all like what we read. The cashmere products in her shop were lovely but very expensive. To be expected cause cashmere is! Even considering we both came from Long Island NY. Nora couldn’t of cared less. So far our 12th day in this beautiful country. She was the only person we weren’t happy to meet.

THIS LOVEY VISITOR DID NOT COME DURING OUR REGULAR OPENING HOURS As publicized clearly on our site, on FB ad on TripAdvisor, we are a working farm, and unless we get our livestock and farm chores finished, we are not in a position to dedicate the necessary time to visitors who just 'happen down the road? So sorry that this Young Lady thought we should drop everything so we could entertain her …. we devote many hours to greet, explain and show our visitors what we do and how it is done, and all the other people who have come to visit (during openining hours or else by appointment) are thrilled by the experience. if you are going to show up when we are closed it really is a shame, since we love what we do and enjoy introducing our visitors to the wonderful world of cashmere goats! Maybe our Long Island lady will come back during opening hours, and will find a different response!

Listening to Dr. Nora Kravis, owner of Chianti Cashmere, tell her story about starting this endeavor from scratch is reason enough for the visit. Her products are lovely and you would never know it was there if you had not done some previous research. Most of us in our group were asking about the large dogs and were somewhat surprised to find out that they protected the sheep from wolves---all part of the interesting story.

We saw the cashmere goat farm was open and drove for a visit. Although it was not technically open, the owner greeted us and welcomed our visit. The property, the goats and the gorgeous guard dogs were beautiful and fun to see.
The owner toured the facility with us and we learned about the responsible farming practices and the effort that goes in to manufacturing beautiful products. The shop has a nice variety for gifts.
I highly recommend. It is a MUST SEE for this area. Unique. Charming and Welcoming!!! Visit the website for product choices too!
