! ? ! Dije: "No, gracias, no necesitamos ayuda". Y volví a la fila. Ella se burló y se alejó. ¿Qué fue eso? ! Gracias.

This was a spectacular production from the scenery to the concept and the acting. Patrick Page was outstanding as Lear, giving a memorable and brilliant performance. The entire cast was exceptional as well. Don’t miss this!

We dropped our subscription when the Shakespeare Theatre cut back on Shakespeare and other Victorian plays in favor of more "modern" and "relevant" productions. We like the venue well enough and understand that the larger theater (graciously funded by Sidney Harman) requires productions with broader popular (or at least more trendy) appeal in order to fill it.

It was gratifying that their Much Ado About Nothing (2022) shows that when they do Shakespeare, they get it right. Whoever thought of using the fire extinguisher on the two feuding lovers deserves a Helen Hayes Award. The SNN set was inspired comedy -- with the headlines being all the dead/murdered/suicided Shakespeare favorites.

This review is really for the staff after my most recent visit. The shows have always been AMAZING!!!!! Performers, cast, and crew create beautiful shows and art.
Sadly, the last time I was there a week ago I walked into the building from the sidewalk as we all do. Many other people came in to see the show, so it was not only me in the main lobby. For example, there were lines at the ticket booths, and a line to get your ticket scanned before going upstairs. As I walked in with my partner, a staff member shouted across the main lobby to us. I kept walking to get our tickets scanned because I didn't think it was for us. She then asks, "Hi, do you know what you're doing here? Did you just wander in?" Confused, I said, "Wait, you think I just walked in here and did not know what I was doing?" She said, "I mean, yeah, so what can I help you with?" WE WERE LITERALLY IN THE LINE TO GET OUR TICKETS SCANNED WITH MY TICKET ON MY PHONE SCREEN WITH OTHER PEOPLE IN LINE. What in the world?!?! I said, "No, thanks, we don't need help." and turned around back in line. She scoffed and walked away. What was that?! I have never felt so unwelcomed at the STC before! Please talk to your staff about interacting with people and not judging them based on anything. I don't want to assume why she thought we 'just wandered in' amongst the crowd of people in the main lobby, but that doesn't matter. It was just rude and now I don't want to return.
Thank you.

Went to see the play/musical Peter Pan and Wendy at the Shakespeare Theatre Company/Sidney Harmann Hall. Performance was outstanding and funny. Accommodations were wonderful. Play area for kids as well while waiting for performance. Truly enjoyed by all.

Have been season subscribers for 23 years! Shakespeare plays, musicals, Broadway adaptions, something for everyone! Two small theaters, The Lansburg and the Harmon, situated a block apart, and there is not a bad seat in the house. It is not unusual for well-known stars to appear, such as Stacy Keach, Helen Mirrin, Harry Hamlin - and the Shakespear Theater Company regulars are also class acts, consistently winning Helen Hayes awards! The sets and costuming are wonderful, and when there is a musical being performed, there is a small orchestra in the Pit. We have never seen a bad peformance and eagerly await each new season!

This is still going on, so if you want to go and don’t have tickets, just show up. I walked right in and there were plenty of seats. I sat in the fourth row for the best production of Hamlet I have ever seen.

My introduction to this theater company was the annual “Shakespeare Free for All” that provides free full-length performances for two weeks each year for the greater DC community. I started by bringing my 8yo to see “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and he loved it so much - showing that kids can enjoy Shakespeare even as a young age. We have gone to the Free for All every year since, and became season ticket holders somewhere along the way. The productions are first-rate, relevant and accessible; the staging is so creative. There are a lot of good community programs that enhance each production, such as book clubs, behind-the-scenes tours, and happy hours, so it’s a good way to meet other Shakespeare fans. Thanks, STC, for many happy family memories!

I recently attended a performance of Richard III and went back to the STC for the first time in over a decade. The facility is still nice and the ushers help everyone get to their seats quickly. There are long lines for the restrooms and drinks/snacks during intermission so I suggest getting there early for these. Parking is also quite expensive in this part of town-- figure on an average of $20 on the weekends. If there's a performance at the large venue across the street it could be hard to get too. The seating is comfortable and the view of the stage is good from lots of different vantage points.

Richard III is a grim play, but the staging of this recent show drives this home. The hard rock/metal music between acts wasn't my favorite either. In general the acting was great. The only weak point was the actress playing Henry Tudor (Henry VII)-- she just was not on par with the rest of the great cast.

They do Shakespeare well, duh. Have only seen a couple of non-Shakespeare productions - love one, hated the other. They do their best with the material - so just choose wisely. Lots of good dining options nearby.

We attended the play 'An Inspector Calls' at the Sidney Harmon Hall. This venue had no wheelchair seating areas close to the stage. We were directed to Row T, which is on the second floor where we found two removable chairs with a width of approximately 25 inches per chair. The ADA venue recommended width for a wheelchair is at minimum 32 inches.

Once inside the Hall, you will find that the carpet isn't too thick and they have an elevator to take you up to the second floor where the bar and restrooms are located.

The restrooms only have one fully handicap stall located at the end of the long row of stalls. The stall has a pull out door so most of the space is in front of that door not next to the toilet. The roll-under sinks don't have reachable paper towel or soap dispensers.
