Nomadic Voyages provided a flawless experience in the Gobi Desert and at the Golden Eagle Festival in western Mongolia. The food was gourmet, the guides and drivers excellent, and the accommodation, including gers, luxurious. For those with a bad back, the road from Ulaanbaatar to the Gobi is excellent and even off-road travel in the Gobi in a 4X4 is short, on the flat and comfortable. Why book with any other company? Nomadic Voyages are local and have unparalleled local knowledge of and connections in this wonderful country.

Total 5 of us had an awesome 13 days expedition to Gobi Desert in the South and to Bayan-Olgii in the West for the annual Golden Eagle Festival.
We had an excellent guide, Sara Chimege that made the trip so wonderful & memorable. Sara took very good care of us and has vast knowledge of Mongolia.
It was a custom travel with two 4-wheel drive. The drivers are excellent too. During these 13 days, we took many amazing and beautiful pictures of the sunrise, sunset, night sky, landscapes, wildlife, raptors (many kinds), etc. The annual Golden Eagle Festival is a must visit. All the accommodations are great (Clean) ! The Ger in Gobi Nomad Lodge are Nice. Food choices are good. Nomadic Voyages has good selection of the restaurants.
Itinerary prepared is perfect for us, we love it.
I will recommend Nomadic Voyages to anyone that plans go to Mongolia. Mongolia is a beautiful country, I will be back again, will definitely look for Nomadic Voyages.

I would say it's an experience of a lifetime. I started this journey through recommendation from a very nice couple who asked me to join in. It’s no regret. Goby desert is so different from the other desert I’ve visited. There were 5 of us and we had two 4-wheel drive. The newest and almost the cleanest ha-ha. We had the 1st class guides and drivers and not forgetting the adventurous journeys through our 5 days there. Since we chose the glamping route of course we had the yurt with the on-suite toilet and bathroom. The yurt was 1st class and the food served can be considered Michelin star standard and we never go hungry. Although I’m not a lamb eater, there are always other food for me.
Our stay at Western Mongolia at Olguii was a bit more challenging. Maybe because we will have spoilt by the high standard of the Gobi Nomad Lodge and the services there. The whole package was lacking. We got into our 4-wheel drive and discovered the front seat belt not working and back seatbelt not complete. But the company were quick to rectify but the driver is not as professional and treated as if we are like a taxi day fare instead of passengers from a tour group.
The sudden drop in the temperature of -2C to -12C was so miserable and we were not prepared for this kind of cold. There were so much fun and exhilaration at the Eagle festival. If the weather was a little warmer as projected, it would have been perfect.
Overall I’m very happy, impressed and have enjoy the trip tremendously. Would I go again? I would say yes, but it got to be summer!

Mongolia is not a country most people would want to visit on their own. Too vast, too few roads, many language barriers. It would be hard to know where to go, how to get there or where to stay without a local planner, a guide and a driver. That is exactly what Nomadic Voyages provided for us -- and all were excellent. We wanted to stay longer than many tourists -- we figured, once we traveled half-way around the world, it was worth staying a while, and besides, with the great distances between sites, Mongolia requires a fair amount of daily travel to cover necessary distances. N.V.'s manager, Soylo, designed an itinerary that fit our timeframe and interests, and took care of all the logistics (lodgings, meals, transportation, guide, etc.). Our guide knew her country intimately, had personal connections with local people throughout the country and tailored her approach to our tastes and preferences. Our driver had an almost uncanny knowledge of the endless unpaved paths that one must cross to get from point A to point B in this giant, lightly developed country. The price was also very competitive with other companies. All in all, a very positive experience that we will remember all our lives.

Wow. Amazing 12 day adventure. Sara our guide seemed to know everyone in the country, and she got us in to places that made our trip unique and memorable.
Nomadic Voyages was able to custom tailor our tour to all of our wants and desires and they were flexible in adapting to changes we made as we went.
We recommend upgrading to the the super delux ger at the Gobi desert lodge as you will feel incredibly pampered.
The Eagle Festival is unbelievable in its beauty and Sara had the experience to get us to see everything. From home visits of hunters and their families in their ger, to running camels through the Gobi desert it was truly a trip of a lifetime.
Nomadic Voyages excelled when it came to arranging us to be with local families, adapting to our wants, and to rave about our experiences to our friends

My wife and I recently returned from an unforgettable 19-day Jeep Safari in Mongolia. We had anticipated being part of a larger group but, since there were just the two of us, we had the full attention of our outstanding multilingual (English, Dutch, Russian!) guide Seerjee and our always-jovial driver WhoGhee. Whenever we wanted to photo-stop, we were graciously accommodated. I got some great shots of landscapes, wildlife, local culture, and everything in-between. How our driver navigated the myriad routes from ger-camp to ger-camp over intersecting tracks without any signage or other directional aids, we'll never know! The food was adventurous (yak, mare's milk, camel,...) for me but less so for my wife, who could always find chicken, beef, or an omelette at most meals. We're glad that we saw so much of Mongolia "up close and personal", on Safari, rather than flying from place to place. The ger camps were always comfortable. Even if we had to walk to the restroom building from our ger at two AM, we were treated to a view of the Milky Way unattainable in our light-polluted city at home. When you visit the "Singing Sands" in the Gobi, be sure to ride a camel (I did) and climb to the top of the dunes (we didn't). One DON'T: Don't play ping-pong with Seerjee. I'm a decent player and she trounced me big-time. Almost forgot to mention: Seerjee and WhoGhee will entertain you with wonderful Mongolian ballads while you drive through these gorgeous landscapes......they both have professional-quality voices.

What a great tour we had. Our trip had been in various stages of planning for nearly 18 months. Solyo at Nomadic Voyages was very responsive and helped us work through the options. At no stage did we see the need to involve a Travel Agent. We ended up with time in Ulaanbaatar and its adjacent national parks, the Gobi Desert, Ulgii on the western border and the Eagle Festival.
It is impossible to describe Mongolia adequately. It is a big country and the incredible scenery just blew our socks off (even though we are seasoned travellers in our mid 60's). Sure there is a lot of driving over unmade roads but that is part of the experience. Ulgii and the Eagle Festival were quite special. To have spent less time in Mongolia would not have done the country justice.
On any tour you wonder why things are arranged or happen in a particular way or in a particular order but it all worked without a problem and we saw everything on our itinerary. Our fears about the ger accommodation and Mongolian food were unfounded. Our guide and drivers were professional and easy to deal with and certainly looked after us. Highlights - reaching the top of the highest sand dune in the Gobi Desert, the scenery around Ulgii and meeting the eagle hunters.
If you are arranging your own tour of Mongolia we can certainly recommend Nomadic Voyage.

My friend and I (both 72) were on a private trip with a guide and driver. It was surprisingly easy to set up a tour for our own dates.
This was not a trip for the faint of heart as it included a lot of driving - long distances and poor, bumpy roads. I would recommend at least one internal flight, if not two - because of our dates, this was not an option for us.
Highlights for us included meeting and eating with a yak herder family and riding a two hump camel. (Also tried fermented mare's milk, yak milk vodka, yak milk yogurt.)
An unexpected highlight was getting to know our guide and driver. They were exceptional! - caring, kind, interesting and great companions.

We are considering taking a trip into Mongolia. I am 68 my husband 83. He is fit and has lived and climbed in Nepal in the past.
Can we choose not to be walking for hours to see as much of the country, the people and animals. We don't want to walk long distances.
