I like to spend some time destressing myself in nature when work pressure became overwhelming. I had spent the entire morning with my eyes glued in front of the desktop computer clearing voluminous piles of complaint emails and letters. Overwhelmed and exhausted, I decided to revitalize my energy level by going for a forest bath (shirin-yoku) at Admiralty Park during lunch time.
I walked my way from Marsiling Mall, passed the Woodlands Park East and Marsiling Industrial Park before reaching the south entrance of the park beside Republic Polytechnic. The two heritage Taoist temples at Marsiling Industrial Estate: Hong Tho Bilw Temple and Shang Di Miao Chai Kong Temple attracted my attention with their captivating bold red architectural design. Both temples had their historic roots in Woodlands since the 1930s and 1940s.
The front part of the South entrance of Admiralty Park was barricaded with on-going construction work. The RTS (Rapid Transit System) rail work linking Johor Bahru and Singapore seems to be shaking up the peacefulness in this part of Woodlands. As I searched for my way in from the West entrance, the smell of Sumitomo tyres from a nearby factory was so pungent that it irritated my nose. But as I entered the west entrance, the fragrant smell of the pandan leaves from the rainforest garden helped me chased away the smell of the rubber tyre.
This is my 4th time here. The last time I visited the park was in 2021 and I told myself I would explore the other trail of the park. I found the nature area is the densest in forestation and is full of biodiversity. You can ignore the urban playground at the south entrance. The nature area of the park is filled with lush greenery and divided into 2 trails by 3 bridges across the drying Sungei Cina. This time, I explored the trail near to the Riverside Road. The two trails are interconnected in a loop so when I walked back, I took the other trail.
It is extremely quiet and isolated while I was there. I was worried that some wild creature or animals may barge out from the dense forestation. As my confidence grew, I learnt to be more relax taking time to enjoy every breath and step of my exploration and appreciating the surrounding trees and terrain. It was breezy along the trail and though it is noon, the tall trees sheltered me from the scorching heat. I could hear the rustling of the leaves and the chirping of the birds drowned by the buzzing of the cicada. The trees in this park seem to shed a lot of their leaves as I found tons of dry brown shed leaves along the trail.
I proceeded to explore the mangrove swamp at the boardwalk and a young couple seem to be frightened by my sudden appearance and disappeared from my sight. But a monitoring lizard was lazily enjoying her sun bath right in the middle of the pathway and did not shy away even when I walked intimidating close to her. Wonder why the couple shy away from my presence.
After an hour immersive walk in nature, I look at my watch and it is time to rush back to office for a meeting. Work never ends but recharging is equally important. Scientists have discovered that forest bathing lowers cortisol and depression in adults and boosts the activity of killer cells that fight off infection and cancer. It is rejuvenating to spend some time in nature to destress oneself when work becomes overwhelming.

Yesterday I decided to explore the parks in the Woodlands vicinity. I alighted by Republic Polytechnic which is a great place to start to explore Admiralty Park. The top part of the park is predominantly for children’s entertainment so carry on past the amusements and then you find natural wooded areas. It was here I had opportunity to see nature up close. A monitor lizard was basking whilst plantain squirrels were seen in abundance on nearby trees.
Quite a few butterflies about including:
Chocolate glass yellow
Malayan eggfly
Birds included:
Collared kingfisher
Pin-striped tit-babbler
Java myna
Yellow vented bulbul
A bees nest in a tree trunk was interesting and I’m grateful to a member of Nature Explorers for explaining the demise of an ant affected by the cordiceps fungi.
Plenty of interesting paths to explore even though the lumberjacks were busy felling trees with areas cordoned off. Disappointing to see large amounts of garbage in the water adjacent to where the water system drains from the park to enter the causeway. A great half day and off to Marsiling Park for the afternoon.

Admiralty Park is the largest park in the north and is situated on a hilly terrain with Sungei Cina river running through it. I like this park because it has the largest nature area within an urban park. It used to have many earth trails but on my recent visit, I noticed that all the trails have been paved.
My friends and I met at the impressive Woodlands North Station Exit 1 and we walked through Republic Polytechnic to reach the playground at Admiralty Park. It is an impressive playground with very long slides, both the open types and covered types. In fact, there are 26 slides and the widest slide and the longest slide in a public park can be found here.
Due to its undulating terrain, the park is fitted with unique slide designs and is loosely separated into three main play areas: Junior Play, Adventure Play and Family Terracing Play.
Admiralty Park also features an inclusive playground, as part of an initiative announced by NParks in 2015. Inclusive playgrounds provide the physical structure, or ‘hardware’, that supports play between children with and without special needs.
This park includes a secondary forest, mangrove, riverine and open grassland habitats, and is home to more than 100 species of flora and fauna. We spotted birds, dragonflies and lots of large spiders on their webs. Walking on the boardwalk through the mangrove forest, we spotted mudskippers, shellfishes and sea holly plants etc.
There is an information panel next to the rain garden with a write up about Purple Fountain Grass, Vetiver Grass and Miagos Bush which are plants seen at the rain garden.
We exited this park to cross a road to arrive at Woodlands Waterfront Park and continue our walk here. We also walk along Marsiling Park Connector to reach Marsiling Park.

I was last here in early April, shortly before the lockdown came into effect. It was a good time to visit as there were very few people around (whereas normally it is very crowded here). My son enjoyed playing on the slides for a while before we headed home.

My toddler loved the loooong roller slides. Brings back childhood memory for us adults as you dont see such long slides much in Singapore these days. Dome slides! The nature! There was a pond too that sparked his interest. Its a must go again park!! Could be a little out of the way for those who do not live in the north side of Singapore.

I have been to this park on few occasions but each time there is a guide who led the walk. This morning, I came alone. Since my posting to the nearby Woodlands Police Division, I have been on several morning exploration to the nearby Marsiling Park, Woodlands East Town Park and this morning, I decided to go for a morning walk at Admiralty Park before I start work.
From Woodlands Police Division, I walked along the park connector past by the Marsiling Industrial Estate and arrived at the south entrance of the park right at the front of Republic Polytechnic.
I commenced the walk at the south entrance beside Republic Polytechnic, strolled my way to the lotus pond area and the amphitheater along Sungei Cina near the dense secondary forest and mangrove swamps to the north entrance. The whole journey from the south entrance to the north entrance took less than 30 mins.
The noise from the heavy traffic along Woodlands Road is terribly disturbing. It is a stark contrast when you are in the Admiralty Park. The surrounding is so remotely isolated, fully of greenery and quiet. I could hear the buzzing sound of the crickets coming from the dense vegetation and occasionally one or two monkeys were sighted as they ruffled their way among the tree branches.
In Mar this year, I came for a northern sector eco-trail walk, the guide concentrated our exploratory walk near the north entrance. A month ago, I came for a brisk walk with the North West Community Development Council brisk walking club members and we walked from the western entrance to the mangrove swamp area via the bridge. Both trips, I did not manage to walk from the south to the north entrance. Today, I managed to complete this trail and finally have a better understanding of the length of this park.
It is a revitalizing meditative walk in nature's hand. The whole exploration took me less than an hour and I was back at my office before 9 am, much refreshed and energized.
I will be back for other trails.

ウッドランドのイミグレからバスで5分くらいのウォーターパークの向かいにある公園です。森の中をきれいな遊歩道が整備されて川がちらちら見えていい散歩道でした。

If your kids love slides this is the place to be. All sorts of slides, big and small available for kids to enjoy. Climbing ropes, coming down, sand play, roll down the slides, flying fox.. no end to enjoyment.
Only caution is the day is going to be hot and humid and sweaty, the kids wont mind it. better to go earlier in the day as the slides get hot in the sun. Take lots of water/ liquids and snacks.

We went specially for the children's playground after reading good things about it and it did not disappoint. It is a bit out of the way for a tourist almost next to the border with Malaysia but you can get there by MRT getting off at Woodlands station. For us it was worth the long trip the playgrounds are really good. The one for older kids has huge slides and small obstacles. For the young ones there is a lovely sand play area with swings and small sides. We went in late afternoon it was hot but after a little while it got cloudy and the kids had a blast. We spent almost 3-4 hours the play equipment is really good quality and is well maintained.

I set up a brisk walk group with North West Community Development Council (NW CDC) and we decided to engage my residents on a Northern Sector Eco-Trail at Admiralty Park. In my impression, Admiralty Park is the stretch of park from Republic Polytechnic to the Woodlands Waterfront.
The nature tour guide Ms Alyce WhatsApp me the google map location of the car park where our bus should alight. She told me that there are two car parks for Admiralty Park and we were to alight at the car park at Admiralty Road West. In my mind, I was thinking it must be the car park where the Sakura International Restaurant is located or the car park where the Woodlands Waterfront is located. It turned out to be none of these car parks.
I had previously explored Admiralty Park near Republic Polytechnic but this part of the Admiralty Park near Admiralty Road West was new to me. The park looks totally different from what I know of Admiralty Park. But the park billboard clearly indicated it was Admiralty Park.
Alyce and her partner greeted us at the car park and we were taken on a peaceful and relaxed nature walk. The atmosphere was serene and quiet far from the hectic madness of city life. Here, our heart seem to slow down. Our attention was diverted to the different species of birds that flew from one tree to another. Our ears seem so clear to listen to the cracking sound of the cicada, the occasional chirping of the sparrows that flew in the blue sky. We observed and examined the red ants that crawled on the soil and the bees that were oblivious of the surrounding focused at the sweet nectar of the flowers.
We took close snapshot of these wonderful display of Mother's nature. We listened to the rhymes of the sound of nature and felt the fresh air filled with ions emitting from the surrounding greenery and the mangrove swamps. At one instance, someone saw a green snake coiling her way up the branches of a tree and everyone marveled at the new discovery. At another instance, we saw figs like fruits studded like mushrooms on the tree and wondered if they are edible and was surprised to know that they are one species of figs. Edible but bitterly sour even animals ignored them.
The children were captivated by the worms, the snakes, the birds and the bees. The adults were absorbed in learning the new species of fruits, the medical value of the leaves, the fresh air from the mangrove swamp. The guide was meticulous detailed in her explanation.
The 2 hour nature exploration was like practicing Taiji or meditation. You are absorbed and calm learning to release the tensions accumulated over the days, weeks and months. The body undergoing a process of detoxification as we wandered in nature. We felt rejuvenated though we did not exert much physically. That was the thrill and secret of this nature walk.
Do engage a nature guide and explore this part of Admiralty Park that bring you through a well of ions, lush greenery and relaxation. The hectic lifestyle is detrimental to health. Strolling through the natural landscape and discovered the inherent beauty of nature will add extra good years to one's health.
Come to the real nature of Admiralty Park! .

Does the park also have a zipline or anything resembling a see saw? I'm trying to bring my students on a trip tying with a unit of study on simple machines (pulleys, wheel & axle, screw, lever, inclined plane, wedge). Many tks!

I haven't seem them in the Admiralty park. They have longest slides in Singapore. You can go to west coast park for Zipline.
