I highly recommend Marilu and Rene' to lead your next adventure in Cusco, or any where else they guide. They are extraordinary souls and even better guides. They have years of experience and a deep well of knowledge. They can guide you all the way from Pre-Incan times right up to how the Incas influence Peru today. Rene' has done the Inca trail to Machu Picchu more than 300 times. They are the "real deal".
With Marilu and Rene' we were able to see so many sites and they made sure we missed the heat of the day, missed the largest crowds each day and our individual needs were met all the while. While visiting Machu Picchu, after finding out that I might get motion sickness from the bus ride, Rene' was able to arrange for me to sit in the front passenger seat so that would not happen. Rene' and Marilu are very well thought of by the guide community in Cusco, and we never went anywhere that they were not known and well respected.
During our five days in Cusco we went at a pace that worked for our group. Our pace was not too fast or too slow, and we saw everything they had intended for us to see and had pre-arranged. We did however fit in stops that were not pre-arranged as we went along. The restaurants we visited were great and you will like the peruvian food. The food is fantastic.
Marilu and Rene' make travelling in and near Cusco a joy without putting too much responsibility on your group. They provided us with an itinerary when we arrived at our first hotel, and we were only responsible for being ready at a certain time each morning for pickup. They made sure to give us a comprehensive list of the items we should take along each day, and they were good to remind us of those needed items.
They took care of everything else including all airport transfers and using local drivers with clean, new vans to take us everywhere we went. They were with us from our pickup each morning until we were dropped off each evening at our hotel.
To sum things up, when we arrived in Cusco we only knew Marilu and Rene' in a professional sense, but we left having counted them as new friends. I cannot think of one thing that we would have changed about our time with them, and I am sure that our experiences in Peru were made all the better because we had them as our guides.
Please consider using them when next travelling to Cusco. You will be happy you did.

Marilu and René are the best guides in Cuzco! My parents and I took a trip to Cuzco for a week and from start to finish René and Marilu cared for us like we were family. From arranging transportation, setting up delicious meals, knowing all of the facts of each place, to buying all of our tickets they did it all. We were able to enjoy our trip without having to worry about anything else! René and Marilu are known far and wide in Peru and are well respected members of the community. Their hard work and passion over the years shows as they create beautiful trips for each of their friends. They made sure to ask each day if we were enjoying our time in Cuzco and they arranged accommodations for my mother and father as needed. To me Marilu and René are like family and it is very apparent how knowledgeable and caring they are. Take your trip with them!!!

We had wonderful time during our private Peru trip organized by Rene.
We worked on our itinerary for few months with Rene, he advised different options that we would like. We had wonderful trip, we visited Sacred valley,Manchu Picchu, Cusco, Humanty lake, Rainbow Mountain, Arequipa, COLCA canyon and Lima.
Everything was organized on exceptional level with attention to every details every day. We purchased our air line tickets from US and inside Peru, also we reserved all hotels. Rene and his team were only responsible for private tours, transportation for 15 days. He was available 24-7 to help and answer any questions we had. I would highly recommend him and his team for travel in Peru

So I was fortunate enough to get the chance to travel Machu Picchu, the sacred valley and Cusco with Rene Clancha! Rene was knowledgeable, personable, and had the traits that made my trip truly spectacular! He knew all the area, and it felt like he was so excited to share his cultures history and stories with me. He matched my pace, he matched my mood, and he made the entire adventure fun and educational. He made sure that I got to enjoy just as much as I needed for that day! In all my years traveling the world- 66 countries and counting- I have never had a better tour guide! Would I recommend Rene, and his company? I would give it my highest possible recommendation, and I look forward to when I get the opportunity to travel with him again! thank you for the TRIP OF A LIFETIME! Chris

My wife and I hired Agência Anexa Peru to do the 2-day Inca trail.
We were very well looked after by Rene, who met us in person at the hotel in Cusco two days before the tour to explain all the details to us. super attentive! Our guide on the trail was Mariluz who exceeded expectations. Deeply knowledgeable about Inca culture and extremely attentive, in addition to taking excellent photos. It was a privilege to have done the trail with Anexa!

We had an incredible time hiking the Inca trail and visiting Machu Picchu with Marilu! She was an incredible guide, showed us many flowers and plants along the way and explained the history of the sites in a very interesting manner. We had a lot of fun and the landscapes were absolutely incredible. Could not recommend the tour more! It’s a life changing experience made even better thanks to our awesome guide!

We just finished a 4 day tour of Cusco Machu Pichu and want to recommend a guide who was outstanding and needs to be in this forum's
recommendations. We had arranged all our trip through a very reputable and expensive travel company, that has an excellent reputation, and
very good people on the ground in Peru. Of course had we known of Renne prior to our trip we could have saved a fair amount of money.
Renee has over 30 years of experience in guiding in Peru, knows the area, the restaurants, and is incredibly knowledgeable about history, flora, geology guided us in Machupichu the short Inca trail, and several other epic sites near Cusco. He made our trip beyond memorable!

Anexa Peru and my guide, Rene Calancha provided an excellent tour. Señor Calancha was attentive to every detail for a short but fully-loaded trip to experience Cuzco, the Holy Valley (Valle Sagrada) and Machu Picchu. He arranged the best (not the most costly, but the best) hotels in every part of the trip and recommended the best restaurants. He provided an excellent and attentive driver and he separately arranged a driver and guide for my college-aged daughter who arrived separately and had to catch up with me. His advice and guiding skills were the best at Machu Picchu. He also provided excellent information on the historical (and current) culture of Peru, including insightful details into the architecture, engineering and agricultural skill of the Incas. If you want to be fully taken care of by a company/guide who knows their area, Anexa Peru should be your choice!

Good liaison with René who explained that Marilú would take us on the 1 day hike up to the Sun gate. We took time to find the orchids and look at the views.
We looked for orchids more often on the steep bits, which was noticed and appreciated!
Tension grew in the drizzle and cloud but MP was revealed in sunny splendour
Great trip. Highly recommended. Great guide
One tip. Don’t mention RUINS. They are not ruins! (but a site slightly neglected for 400y) Siteo archeologico

Machu Picchu was #1 on my wife's bucket list and had been so for 50 years since an elementary school teacher told of her travel there. So planning for this special trip was a big deal and we could not have chosen a better planning partner than Rene Calancha. He had been the long-time Peru contact for a Andean Treks, a US-based travel company that was closing down as its founder retired. They recommended Rene who was just launching Anexa. Rene was speedy in getting back to me and extremely generous with ideas and suggestions as we planned an itinerary. With his guidance, we decided to begin with a few days in Lima, then fly to Iquitos for a few days in the Amazon jungle, then a flight to Cuzco with an immediate departure for a few days in the Sacred Valley (both for its magnificent sites and to help us get used to the altitude), then two days visiting Machu Picchu itself (including one long, spectacular day of hiking that ended with the awesome entrance to Machu Picchu that my wife had been anticipating for half a century), and then a few days in Cuzco, the Inca capital. Rene went from helping us think through the itinerary to booking all the hotels, in-country travel, local tours and guides, restaurant recommendations, etc., and didn't miss a thing! We were so well cared for and could not have been happier. From meeting us at the airport on our arrival in Lima to seeing us off for our trip back home, Rene and his team were making sure our visit lived up to our expectations and hopes. And it did!!
