We did the 2 day 1 night Vinicunca + Ausangate trekking. It was an amazing experience. Our guide Vlady provided us with everything we needed. We had a thermal bath in the night with a sight to the Andes and it was such an unique moment. The house we spept in Pacchanta was big, it had wifi and a rich and delicious food. The food there was better than any other hotel/hostel we had during our 16 days in Peru.

I totally recommend Ausangate Trekking for those who want to experience an overnight in the mountains of Peru. 10/10.

I did two tours: Tour 7 lagoons of Ausangate and Tour Rainbow Mountain.
- The Tour 7 Lagoons of Ausangate with guide Eduardo is operated by Ausangate Trekking. It is a long day, pick up was on time 4:30am, 4h bus ride and you get to Pachanta, small local community inside the Ausangate Reserve. The trail starts there at 4300m, it is a 13km D+500m loop with the maximum elevation at 4650m. The views are magnificent for Ausangate Apu aswell as the other peaks along the mountain range. Tre trail is relatively easy with no steep slopes, or you can take a horse if needed for 80 soles. The guide walked along and managed the pace of the group, giving some information about the area. But all in all, you just enjoy walking and appreciating the views. Lunch is in Pachanta and you have time to soak in geothermal baths there. You get back to Cusco around 7pm.
- Tour Rainbow Mountain was not operated by them, it was Qori Inka Travel and the guide was terrible. After the tour, when I explained the situation to Ausangate Trekking and the lack of guiding from Qori Inka Travel, they acknowledge the situation, apologized for the partner and agreed in offering a fair price for only the transport and food. There are many agencies in Cusco selling tours, but few operators and you need to be careful when choosing. In this case, Ausangate Trekking did not operate the second tour but, when the situation went totally wrong, they answered for it and they managed the bad tour with good communication, honest and humble attitude.

This 4-day-tour was an unbelievable experience concerning the nature, food, season-changes (during the rainy season) and so on. We had a very competent guide, a reaaaally good cook, two horsemen und 5 horses who carried all the stuff (baggage, tents and so on). Everything was well organised and worked out perfectly. We can highly recommend the Ausangate Trek organised by this agency! It’s the highlight of our 3-weeks-journey in Peru.

Percy and Urbano were a great company and professional tour operators from the first time we met them. We had many doubts about the trek in the beginning because of unfavourable weather conditions. At no moment we felt being pushed into buying the tour. When I was ready Urbano was there and had everything prepared in the blink of an eye.

The trek itself was amazing. It takes you to really remote places where you hear nothing but the water of the rivers. The scenery is incredible and even along the 4 days extremely diverse. You can't imagine all the colours you will see. Urbano knows very well the region and the people from the village where the trek starts. Even most of those who live isolated around the Ausangate massif. He is a very good company and guide. It was a unique experience for me.

I highly recommend to do the Ausangate Trek with this agency as they are genuine positive people and professional at the same time. THEY operate the tour so they know what they are talking about. All information they give you is first hand.

Thank you once again, Urbano and Percy, for giving me this exceptional experience.

Our one day hike with Urbano was absolutely perfect! Stayed at a very nice remote and newly built lodge at the foot of Ausangate mountain where Rosita, a farmer woman from the local community prepared lovely Peruvian food (all vegetarian since we asked for that).
The hike was absolutely spectacular - we managed to get up to around 5,000 meters above sea level to look over the several beautiful lakes with different shades of blue. Urbano, our guide, spoke excellent English and told us a lot about the mountain but also the local culture and history. We really enjoyed the trip with him
and would recommend him anytime.
Be aware that the weather can change very fast in the mountains (esp between dry and rainy season end of November). During our 8 hour hike we experienced sunshine with blue skies, rain and snow - so bring your waterproof clothes and put sunscreen on :)
