Not sure we were supposed to be here but it was really cool seeing all of the old structures and beautiful cemetery . Better check before you come to make sure it’s open .

This cemetery has been reclaimed from a jungle of foliage, and is apparently a work in progress. Worth the effort to visit.

It is a really amazing experience to walk thru a cemetary, reading headstones hundreds of years old. The short lives and the long lives lived quietly or with valor or greatness, preserved for those who wish to see it.

The gate was open, so we drove through the cemetery. It is in a pretty spot overlooking the river. We like to look at old cemeteries, and this one has some really old markers, dating back to the mid 1800's. You will see some familiar names in Eufaula's history. The drive curves at the entrance to the Jewish Cemetery and goes close to the edge of the bluff.

You cannot just drive to this cemetery. When you get to the locked gate, a sign gives you a phone number to call to get access to a key. Once you do get in, you pass the ruins of the Moultrop home. This is an exotic and emotional thing to see - sad to see something as elegant as this in such a state. Once past the Moultrop, you approach the lake's edge where the cemetery awaits. The Shorter cemetery is ancient but well maintained. It contains the grave of General Reuben Shorter. There is a history lesson there in headstones.

We were in town for their annual pilgrimage and took advantage of this cemetery being open for the day. Such old graves with a beautiful site of the river. Glad we did it!

Be sure to bring your camera and maybe a sketchbook. If you're lucky a train will pass by! This place is a great walk and has some gorgeous scenery. One of my absolute favourite places.

This is an interesting way to spend a day.....history everyplace...generations buried here (they are checking out the river views) grave sites dating to the late 1700's! A history buff's dream come true! Stop in when you are in toen!

Closed to the public but you can sometimes get in if the caretaker is working. Amazing cemetery on a beautiful lake

Looking at history and the ornamental gravesites of local famlies. Seeing the dates and names of so many that passed at such a young age.Loved the marble used back then.

What hours and days is the cemetery open, and is there an admission charge?

No admission. It's just a trail that leads to the cemetery on the bluff. I would only go in the daytime as the walk can have many obstacles, such as sticks or larger logs, especially after a storm. Someone who's wobbly on their feet may not want to walk back there if it looks rough!)
