We visited the campground over Labor Day weekend with a large group of friends. The park itself is beautiful and very well shaded - it never really got hot at all even on the hottest days. The bathhouse is nice and clean. The walking trails were fun, especially the one that runs around the small lake with the waterfall. The amphitheater is cool as well as what looked like a little electric chair in also what looked like a tornado shelter (weird). Everyone that works at the park is super nice and friendly. We rented kayaks to go paddle around the bigger lake across the road. “Bigger” is a little tongue in cheek because it’s still very small, we lapped the whole lake in less than 25 minutes. $20 for day rental is a little steep, in my opinion, for such a small lake that you also can’t swim in.... the kayaks were very nice though.

Overall I love the park. But let’s get to my real complaint... the (expletive) mosquitos were horrid. I mean beyond-being-burned-alive horrid. We tried everything - lathering up in bug spray, coating ourselves in peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptus essential oils, burning citronella candles, putting citronella incense sticks everywhere, covering ourselves in ChiggerX, wearing long pants and long sleeve shorts in the heat of the summer, EVERYTHING! The mosquitos are like nothing I have ever seen and I have lived in Arkansas my entire life (Northwest Arkansas, but whatever). They bit us through our clothes, even! They get inside everything so even in my sleep I got ridiculously ate up. After 4 days here, I bet I have over 100 mosquito bites all over my body and I have never been so miserable in my entire life. Even the smoke for our fire didn’t keep them away!

I will not come back to this park. We had originally thought it would be a good winter destination - hopefully after the mosquitos had died down. Nope. No way. I will not come back regardless of time of year and risk getting ate up so bad again. I am 100% miserable and cranky and that’s not how you should leave a camping trip with your best friends who are really family...

I realize this park is deep in the Arkansas Delta, but (expletive)...! The park should really consider fogging the area or something. I’m actually a little medically concerned about the number of bites I have and the diseases mosquitos carry. One of our friends stayed in one of the cabins (which are nice and cute and spacious). He even had dozens of mosquitos in his cabin and also got ate up IN HIS SLEEP also!

The mosquitos here are ruthless and definitely blood-thirsty and I definitely DO NOT recommend staying here unless you want to be miserable for days on end or so high/drowsy on Benadryl you can barely keep your eyes open to enjoy the time with your friends and family...

We apologize for just responding to your post. We are so sorry you had such an adventure with our mosquitoes! The mosquito population can get intense in the late summer months. We haven’t yet figured out how to defeat them – that’s the annual struggle of living in the delta. If you’re not a bat (or other mosquito-eater), I recommend a spring, fall, or early summer trip – I like to think Crowley’s Ridge State Park is heaven on earth when the mosquitoes aren’t biting!

This park is an awesome place to take your kids and dogs. Has lots of walking trails with wooden bridges. Even has a giant sand box for the whole family to play in and a stocked pond for fishing. Picnic area for day use or cabins for overnight rental.

Crowley Ridge is a great place to camp or have a daily picnic. It offers hiking trails , paddle boats, swimming, concession stand, fishing and a little history lesson. The picnic area offers 2 big pavilions that can be rented for large events and the single picnic areas are well shaded.

Our family is on a quest to visit all of the Arkansas State Parks. During spring break, we stayed at Crowley's Ridge and visited 8 different parks. Crowley's Ridge is a very nice park and we really enjoyed staying here, although the main attraction is probably their swimming area in the summer time.
We stayed in a two-bedroom condo and found it very nice. Everything was provided and it met all of our needs. We cooked meals there two nights and found the kitchen well stocked and very functional. We enjoyed one of the trails in the park and would like to go back to explore the others. This would be a great park for a summer family outing.

We rented the two-bedroom cabin. I got a call the day before from Gretchen, who told me that they were painting the cabin and it might not be done in time (check in was at 4pm), and that the fireplaces were closed but they would give us a discount. I told her I still wanted the cabin, didn't want to switch. Upon arrival, 4:00pm, the cabin was complete and didn't even smell wet paint! I had some trouble connecting to wi-fi (jokes on me, I'm supposed to be on vacation!) but once it connected, no issues! We did go purchase some movies the next day because there weren't very many channels on the tv. On the day of our check out, the power went out at 8:30, we were already packing up anyways but someone came by and told us the power was out and what was going on.

The size was wonderful for a family of 6. The bedding and the towels were AMAZING. I cannot wait to go back!

Thank you so much for your kind words. It seems that so many things were working against us last weekend during your stay, but I’m glad that we could accommodate you. Our staff worked hard to get your cabin ready and I do apologize for the inconvenience of not having the fireplace available for your use. By the way, I was the one who came by Sunday morning to let you know about the power outage. Fortunately, it was only out for about an hour. We are still working on correcting these issues and hopefully everything will be perfect the next time you come for a visit.
