Excellent testing golf course - only 2nd round since November - Canadian. Recommend trying course of handicap 18 or less.

Every time my wife and I are in Ocala we make sure we play Juliette Falls golf course. you will not be disappointed. the greens rolled true at a good speed; the course is over all in great shape. make sure to bring your phone for some beautiful pictures. the only thing is if you tee off after 1:30 and want to take advantage of the sandwich and beer special you may not make it because they bar closes early. also wish they had a twilight rate or a senior rate.

Called Juliette Falls Golf Course to inquire about any maintenance going on. Young lady assured me there was none and wouldn't be any until late August early September. Made a foursome tee time 9:03AM. Drove over an hour to drive into empty parking lot. Wondered why, but unloaded clubs, paid, opted for lunch to be included, plus a few buckets of range balls. Starter asked if we were ready and though this is nice. Course was virtually empty. Hit approach shots to the green and then WHAM!! Greens had been punched with big holes and were completely sanded. Some greens were not even puttable so had to move ball all around. Saw a ranger and asked about the greens. He apologized and said we should ask for rain checks since the greens were in horrible shape. Went to speak to manager(Caylyn), but she had left for the day. Called next day, manager (Caylyn) out sick. Called next day only to hear Manager (Caylyn) tell me we seemed to have played on the wrong day and nothing she could do to straighten the mess up. I suggested rain checks but Caylyn said they only give rain checks when it rains. Terrible Customer Service! She acted like driving over an hour to play aerated greens was no big deal! Don't think we will be driving over an hour to return..
Very Unhappy!

THE SAGA OF JULIET FALLS

BY Phil Parent

It all started back in July, when my lovely wife, Rowena, went searching for a Birthday present for me. She , knowing that I really wanted to play golf there, bought me a $50 gift card from Juliet Falls Golf Club. At that time, she asked what the greens fees were, and the person told her that they were around $41 or so, with a lunch special of $5. She thought that this would easily fit within the $50 gift card amount, so she purchased it, and presented it to me on my Birthday. I was tickled pink. About 2 months ago, I called for a tee time to play with my friend. At that time, I asked the price of the green fees. The young lady told me, $51 plus tax. Close to the gift card amount, so I said , what the heck, and booked a tee time. The weather turned in the next couple days, and we were forced to cancel due to rain. Now it is this week, and I decided that my schedule was clear, and it would be great to play some golf and use my gift card. So I called and booked a tee time for this morning, at 9:21.
(this was Monday afternoon) I asked the lady, what was the price of the green fees, and she told me, $53 or something like that. Again, I knew I would have to kick in some extra, but a couple of bucks was not going to kill me. I texted my friend and told him the time and the cost, and he was all right with it.Now comes this Morning at 8:30 ish, I arrived at the golf course and dropped my clubs off at my cart. My friend had not arrived yet. I went inside and told the young lady at the desk my name and that I had a 9:21 tee time. She looked it up and sure enough, there it was. After some button pushing, she said,” That will be $68.75. “ I said, “What!” in shock. She repeated it. We then had a short discussion on why it was not the price that I had expected, whereupon, she sort of explained that their fees change daily. I gave her my gift card and my debit card to cover the cost. When my friend arrived, he went in and paid his fees and we proceeded to start our round. I must say this, the course is beautiful. Well groomed and in great shape. It, the course, is far above my skill level, and extremely challenging. I doubt very much if I will be returning ti Juliet Falls Golf Club any time in the near future, especially with the “Bait and switch” green fee problem. I will spread the word to all my golfing buddies, of these circumstances, so that this situation will not happen to them. If nothing else, this is less than honorable , if not somehow illegal.

Drinks seemed watered down. Food was overpriced and at best average. Had a bad steak and bad pork. Would not recommend at all. Maybe the snack bar is okay but I’ll not be back.

The good...course was in good shape. Greens rolled smoothly, a little on the slow side but consistent. Fairways had a few bare spots but for the most part were really nice.

The bad...you would think that Covid had been eradicated here! Other than our group not a mask in sight on any employee including food servers. No hand sanitizer anywhere. Carts were obviously not cleaned and sanitized between uses and they even charged an extra $10 if you wanted to ride alone. If you are going to golf here bring your own cleaning products and eat at your own risk...we were very uncomfortable and will not be back.

Things that make you go hmmm...On the second hole there was a PTSD fund raiser set up as a contest or just to donate. We ended up winning $100 each in pro shop credit. After the round we went to collect and were told they "don't have the money yet" so we could not collect. We would have to come back (about an hour drive) another time. Not sure what to make of this. My suggestion, donating to a PTSD fund is a good thing but perhaps you should make that donation before leaving home. If you do enter the contest here understand that if you win you will most likely not be able to collect. My hope, since I will not be returning I am hopeful that the money will get returned to the PTSD and not end up in the pocket of Juliette Falls Golf Course.

The 3 stars I gave is an overall rating. The course gets 5 stars and the front office management gets 0 stars for a total lack of concern for the public. To quote a FOX news reporter..."wear your damn mask!" It is not about compliance, it is about cooperation!

C'mon, guys - JF is supposed to be a premium course. Treat your customers like it is.

The first time I played JF (6 months or so back), I rated it as excellent. Having played a few more times since then, I'm knocking my rating down to average. A couple of reasons, starting with the course itself not being in nearly as good condition as it's been in the past. That could come from summer heat stress, or lack of irrigation. Layout is as challenging as ever.

I'm upset that JF management has decided to charge a $10 Covid-19 surcharge if you want a cart to yourself, particularly given resurgence of the virus in Florida. Additionally, none of staff, inside or out, are wearing masks, which leads me to wonder how seriously they're taking facility (and cart) sanitizing.

Food: Had the burger & beer special after my round. The only beer option was Miller Lite in a plastic cup. Burger was OK, but not cooked to my preference.
