We had tasted Raye’s mustard at a restaurant we visited in Acadia. We knew the mill was closed. When we wandered into the shop at 4:30, 1/2 hour before closing Natasha took her time letting us taste all the mustards. It was difficult deciding which ones to purchase. We can reorder on line. We also bought some gift items.

This spring my husband and I decided to visit the bold coast in addition to spending a few days in Acadia. One of the things on my list of things to do was the tour of the Mustard Museum. When we arrived, we were disappointed to find that the Mill was under renovation and so no tours but we were able to look in and saw the grinding of the mustard from the doorway. We headed into town to see their mustards in their shop. The sales woman was so friendly and helpful. She explained the different kinds of mustard and what they could be used for AND she let me sample a few. I decided that the mustards would make wonderful gifts for friends at home as well as for me. So we left with several jars. They got rave reviews from my friends who got them as gifts. There are also other gift items available there. Don't miss this.

Raye's knows how to make real mustard. We bought an assortment to take home, and enjoyed every different one. Ran out and went to their website and ordered 6 more jars of our favorite one. Wonderful woman running the shop the day we visited.

Would be 5 stars if the prices were a little lower. I understand the process is more labor intensive than machine ground but not sure if the difference is really worth it.

We stopped in for a tour and were wowed at the simple but perfect stone ground process . We went on to the shop and tried all of the samples and left with a variety to enjoy at home. Thank you Rayes!

If you ever visit Eastport in Maine, stop here. Raye’s Mustard Mill and Museum provide free samples and a free orientation tour. Raye's Mustard Mill was opened in 1900 during the golden age of the US Sarddine Canning business. Today, the Sardine factories are gone but Rays's Mustard Mill and Museum continues to grinding mustard using the old French millstones it purchased over 100 years ago.
I hope they are successful in expanding to build a museum around the original belted machines. No photography is allowed inside the mill. The mustard varieties are very good. I recommend purchasing a sampler and a bag of stick pretzels.

Stopped here briefly with several friends. Who knew there were so many varieties of mustard. We were able to sample several of them and I bought 3 small jars to take home.

Guests at our B&B suggested this local shop. Not positive total # of mustard
made products, but tasted 12, bought 12 products and will but more for the
holidays. Local, unique small business that you have to see to believe. Worth
the time to stop and see.

Quaint, beautiful, original production building with a tour and merchandise section. They sell every locally made item you can imagine, from of course mustard, to jellies, honey, spice packets, sardines, and best of all fiddleheads! Become part of the local culture by visiting.

I can't tell you how much I love Raye's and the wonderful woman who was working there the day I stopped in - you won't believe me. I will say though that she was the kindest person in the world, helped me find some amazing local smoked salmon and sent me on my way with Mustard I'm still enjoying and celebrating today (as I write this actually) - plus ask about the Annual Pirate Day... just trust me. It's a treat. LOVE LOVE LOVE this spot and the mustard!
