We were disappointed when we camped at this park. The sites are small and the electrical site we had was difficult to access. Part of the park is very hilly but you don't know that when you pick a site. The swimming areas are extremely small with hardly any beach at all. It is very noisy with the highway traffic nearby but the worst is the float planes taking off 3-4 times a day. The noise is right over our head. We could also hear the train go by. The staff at the office was friendly and helpful. There are no trails in the park but there are some in the town of Temagami.

Me and my friends had an amazing stay at Finlayson Park. We’ve never been in this area before so didn’t know what to expect, however Temagami lake is gorgeous!! It’s a super quiet area with beautiful scenery. I haven’t got one bug bite and usually when camping I get hundreds. I was suggest getting a private campground as that’s what we did, and I do not regret it! They also do canoe/kayak rentals so a very reasonable price; 40$ for 24 hours. Even better yet, they have the option to grab a fishing rod and tackle box for free! We caught a few bass and trout after being out for a few hours, there’s tons of this bong spots. Staff are super nice, very clean and lovely area, I will certainly be coming back and I highly highly recommend this place for camping or canoeing.

Sadly no trails at this park. Really need to have a boat/canoe/kayak to enjoy your time here. Lake Temagami is beautiful, we paddled only a few metres from loons daily. Hunting and pontoon plane sounds cut through the generally quiet woods. I’m not sure if it’s busy in the summertime, but in September there weren’t many people around. Looked like many of the campsites haven’t been used in some time (maybe a slow year with covid?). Comfort stations/flush toilets very clean.

The park is nice and I didn’t mind the sound of the highway. But the high pitched sound of trucks backing up can be heard ALL DAY LONG, starting at 7 am!!

A very nice Northern park near Temagami Ont. Sites are generally spacious, and there are many large campers and rv's that navigate the narrow roads to camp in a nice woodsy area. Some sites are good for trailers, and other are for tents. Many nice lake side sites . Modern washrooms. The negative points include: no trails in the park, they are all located outside the park area, and they did have an amplitheatre for evening information shows, but it has been abandoned in the woods. It is sad to see the original design of the park left to decay, as the intent from its opening in 1963 was to have it .More effort is needed to have staff do the shows and restore the amplitheatre. Other than that, the staff were excellent on maintenance and very friendly. Definitely a park worth visiting if you have a boat too. 7/10 for my rating.

The park itself was clean and well maintained with quite a variety of sites to choose from that are spaced far apart enough to give you some sense of privacy. We were on site 10 which is on the little peninsula near the water on the North side of the park. The issue we had was that there are several cottages just across the channel on Forestry Island. Most of the cottages were quiet and respectful but one cottage with a blue Lund boat, a yellow floating mat and a few Muskoka chairs were not. They blasted Death Metal music from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm that I’m sure half of our side of the park could hear. I phoned the OPP to file a complaint and tried phoning the park office at 9:30 but no answer from both. I know this is not the park’s fault but if they could monitor the noise on that side of the park more often and possibly help by reaching out to those cottageRis it might make camping on that side of the park more enjoyable for future campers.

We had a wonderful time at the park. We stayed at site 107a which was pretty private and we had the beach to ourselves. Staff was very nice and facilities were very clean. Nice that town is so close in case you forgot anything. Canoe rental was easy and very affordable. We also borrowed a fishing pole from the office which was great bc we didnt want to spend a bunch of money. Definitely will be back with our new addition:)

What is the constant sound of tricks backing up coming from? It starts early in the morning and goes on ALL DAY!!

I just read your review of site 107A at Finlayson Provincial Park and was wondering if you can swim off this site ?
Looks like you caught a fish so fishing looks good.

This site does not have water access. We actually booked a fishing guide and the fish were caught at other lakes. Having said this, this is absolutely a park where you can dock boat and yes some sites would have direct access. If you are an avid fisherman and comfortable navigating Lake Temagami you’ll want to consider bringing your boat. There is a nice fish cleaning station in the park too!

Hi, I hope to camp for several days this month and or in Sept in your park. I will have a canoe and would like to fish parts of the lakeshore. I see several fish logos on the maps of your campground areas so expect there are fish aplenty? Any advice as to where one can ready catch and release fish? Are any other licenses needed in this park (I am a senior)?

Lake Temagami is an angler’s delight! It offers both deep, cold water and shallow, warm water fish species ready to grab your line, including Lake Trout, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Pumpkinseed, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye and Yellow Perch.
Gate staff can offer suggestions of top fishing spots. No additional licences needed; just bring government-issued identification that shows you're 65+. Check the Ontario Fishing Regulations for catch limits.
Happy fishing!
