I went to Newlin Grist Mill to do some hiking/walking. Fortunately, the office door was opened and I talked with the person working there. The area was just hit with 8 inches of rain and the office door was supposed to be closed due to damage that the buildings sustained during the flooding. She gave me a map and explained the damage to the lower trails. I did the lower trails (Mill Race Trail, Creek Trail and Industrial trail). At the dams, the bridges got washed away and the dam is damaged. You could not get to the second dam. You can definitely tell were the flooding was at. Erosion along the creek and the grass/plants were laying flat. That actually made seeing the creek a little easier I guess. But, the trails were open and a little muddy at spots. Not a lot of people when I was there. Very peaceful walk on this day. I would visit here again.

This spot has some great history of the surrounding area. Has a few hiking trails that are well maintained. One looks to be stroller friendly. Has a great spot to take a break and enjoy the water falls. Most trails are definitely doable for little ones!

We hiked here last Saturday. The parking lot was full with people waiting for a spot so we parked at the Dunkin Donuts across the street and walked. We loved the waterfall area and walking on the rocks across the stream. We also did a hike to the top of the hill and looped around. We will be back when the historical buildings reopen to tour the grist mill. This is a great hidden gem of a property. Our only feedback for improvement is that the trailheads could be better marked. The trail map was a bit confusing. Overall a great visit and we will be back!

We visited this museum/grist mill with adults and teens. It was really worth the trip. The teens were fascinated by the history, and awed to see the water wheel and grindstone turning. I would definitely recommend it for older children (about age seven and up) and teens, as well as adults. It looks small on the outside, but don't let that fool you. It is three storeys of history. Well worth the reasonable price of admission. I learned some really interesting new information. The woman who was our guide was very knowledgeable. She was a wealth of facts and history.

This is a fine historic site in the midst of a huge natural space, and just minutes off the beaten path. There are a few historic buildings on the site, with the grist mill itself being the star of the show. There are easy trails for hiking, and convenient picnic tables. Visitors can stop in at the gristmill and speak to staff members who are working at restoring the mill wheels; optionally, there is guided tour for a small fee.

Took our two oldest grandchildren here last spring, and they were so interested. We actually go to see the mill stone working, as some of the volunteers were working on it. A great visit.

IF you want a break from crowds and city life, 30 minutes from Philly is a working Plantation. Low admissin price. We like to visit over the 4th of July when they reenact the tension between Loyalist and colonials. Check the schedule for other special weekend events.

Good place to see Delaware Counnty history and explore the acreage. There are picnic tables for a picnic lunch and many views for the painter or sketcher to use for a masterpiece.

This historic mill is extremely interesting and well maintained. Excellent for history buffs. The staff seems to be small and largely volunteers. Official tours are a little limited, check their schedule or call ahead. The volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. We got an unofficial (unscheduled) tour because the staff are so friendly and anxious to share their experiences, knowledge and stories with interested visitors. School groups visit often. The grounds are scenic too. A very nice place to visit.
