This is a great place to hike, with wooded trails and great views of the Potomac River and a small waterfall. Limited parking keeps the crowds down.

Brought dogs here on a Saturday evening @7pm. I have been coming for many years. Best to stay away now on weekends and evenings.

It was a beautiful hike. The waterfall was beautiful but it's not for taking bath.

When you enter, there is a way via stairs which goes through greeny shady mountain and another in the front which goes through straight path and has beautiful shallow water ways. Safe for everyone.

Used to be a nice little park but now extremely crowded and parking is very limited which has contributed to a lot of traffic jams on the two lane Georgetown Pike. Garbage is always left overflowing all over the park and the streets where cars park ILLEGALLY (AND receive parking tickets since they parked right next to the NO PARKING signs that are place every 20 feet). No crosswalks, sidewalks or even a shoulder to walk on but that doesn't stop all the people with their young children and dogs from walking right on Georgetown Pike! Always interesting to see a car that has half fallen into a deep ditch right at the entrance almost every weekend and then have to get towed, which causes MORE traffic jams. Textbook way of ruining a nice little community park!

Went here to check out the waterfall and unfortunately it was just bad. People had loud music playing and it was packed with teens. There was also so much trash around and people smoking all over the place. It’s honestly frustrating and unfortunate that people can’t enjoy nature and instead are out there destroying it and ruining the experience for others. I don’t think I’ll be returning. Maybe when it’s a bit colder and people aren’t out there partying and there to swim.

Sorry, but I cannot see how this is so highly rated. Are people walking around blindfolded? There was trash literally everywhere. I even saw someone throwing trash on the floor. Someone alsmost scratched my car, we got a parking ticket as parking was a free for all. I hated my time here.

Used to be nice until recently when it became waaaaaay overcrowded with trash left everywhere (dirty diapers, alcohol bottles, uneaten food, plastic bottles etc). Soooo crowded that they had to put about a dozen no parking signs all along Georgetown Pike near the park but regardless people continue to park along there and there are police giving out dozens and dozens of tickets each weekend and sometimes during the week. Sometimes 3 patrol cars are there giving out tickets. Garbage along Georgetown Pike where people are illegally parking is disgusting. Water is really dirty because it is mostly street run- off water. Very limited parking spaces and a dangerous walk on Georgetown Pike with no shoulder, sidewalk or crosswalks.

I love Scott’s run because it’s a short hike to the Potomac River. Children and dogs on leash are welcome and the leaves are fantastic in the Fall. Just remember that you are going downhill to the river do you will be coming back uphill. You can also climb up to a small waterfall. The 11year old granddaughter and the dogs loved it.

This is one of the best places to go for a hike in the area. No picnic areas or playgrounds, just lovely woodland trails that take you to the Potomac and a pretty waterfall. Loads of people on the weekends, but quiet on weekdays. To avoid the crowds, try the interior trails, trails on the east side, and the (sometimes treacherous) trail along the river.

Scott's Run Nature Preserve is a haven for those who are no big time hikers, joggers or adventure seekers. It is more for a casual, relaxed walk amidst nature.
