Came here with my wife and another couple for a mid-October afternoon of hiking. Be sure to pay your modest entry fee and secure your map across from the trailhead.
Though not difficult, the Coastal Trail was soggy in many places, necessitating proper footwear. Postcard views of iconic Maine coastline are plentiful. A side-hike to the inland bog, well-explained by placards, is optional but highly recommended.
TIP: Green Point is a great picnic spot. Also, the few other hikers we passed strongly recommended we NOT return via the Thompson Trail due to its extremely soggy condition, so we crossed the Minzy Field and returned to Quoddy Light Head via the South Lubec road.

It was raining buckets the day we traveled to the lighthouse, but we got a brief respite so we were able to enjoy a little of the area. It's a beautiful spot, and we lucked out with a bald eagle sighting.

Relatively small state park with beautiful rugged trails along cliffs and through the forest. TRAILS MAY BE WET!

The lighthouse itself is quite ordinary, but the views are incredible. We especially enjoyed going down to the rocky beach during low tide. The hikes along the shore are easy for the most part and well worth the time.

Gorgeous park. One of the most beautiful, quiet parks in Maine. Would go again. Worth the trip. Wished I could have stayed longer.

If you would like some peace of mind and have only about an hour, treat yourself to the Coastal Trail and make Green Point your destination.
I had a leisurely stroll, stopping for many photos and the time spent filled my cup! Trails are well maintained. Yes, it was a very foggy day, but I thoroughly enjoyed all that Mother Nature had to offer. The ferns, moss, mushrooms, birds, cliff views and ocean waves were more than enough to make the visit worthwhile.
I arrived on a Sunday evening at about 6:00 p.m. There were only two other cars in the lot, and I saw no one on the trail. Enjoy!

At first I was so disappointed that our 2 day stay was foggy and rainy BUT we wouldn’t have had the pleasure of experiencing the foghorn so up close and personal, right? And the fog lends to mysteriously shrouded images as well, backed by thundering surf…ah, it did the soul well. The next morning, I got up at 4 am and walked to the park to catch the sunrise and it was clear! One of my favorite places of our trip!

beautiful spot to just sit and look around or to hike the easy trails. the people who work in the lighthouse are very friendly and helpful. we were there two days. the first day was sunny and the second was rainy and foggy- both were perfect!

No camping? If not what time does the park close. Interested in stargazing in the evenings.

There is a small campground close by in Lubec called Sunset Point Campground. The views are beautiful from the campground. The park closes at sunset, however I have seen star photos at the lighthouse. Check with the lighthouse (closes at 4:00) volunteer staff for more information.

The Eastland Motel is along the main road before you get into the "business" part of Lubec where the stores and restaurants are located. There are a handful of B&Bs, and an inn (Cohill's). There is also the rehabbed coast guard station, which is just down the road from the park. You can find info under specialty lodging for Lubec - West Quoddy Head Station.
I like to stay here because the rooms are large and they have full kitchens in most of the rooms, but you do have to drive (it's about 5 minutes) to get to town. The views are fantastic. There is nothing fancy in Lubec, no chain hotels, no 5 star resorts. Look at the lodging available on Trip Advisor, most ratings have been pretty reliable.
