We had an amazing time during the October event! It’s was carefully curated and well presented, informative and fun! Wine tasing, operating the printing press, seeing first medical instruments, learning about kingdom of Hawaii in a small group felt like a unique and wonderful experience.

So glad we went on this tour! Our guide was incredibly knowledgable and friendly, and we felt like we came away with a much better understanding and appreciation for Hawaii's unique and rich history. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful as well. Highly recommend this tour if you want a clear and compelling understanding of how the state has been built up over the last few centuries.

We took the docent tour with Rose as our guide. Outstanding information was shared through her in depth reading and love for Hawaiian history. It's an incredible piece of the story of Hawaii.

Situated close to a number of other historic attractions in Honolulu, I would definitely add this one to your list. We did walk in to get our tickets and had to wait a hour so maybe best to order online. Our guide was amazing and a true history buff and teacher. No question was silly and answers were informative and interesting. You will hear and see the oldest wooden house in Hawaii, learn how the Hawaiian language became written and so much more. I am so glad we chose to do this tour and can highly recommend it.

Very interesting tour of some of the homes from the first missionary families from the 1820s to 1840s. The story of how they were the first ones to document the Hawaiian language in written form and then print many books was fascinating. Mike was a great tour guide and gave me and my wife a private tour. It is just a block down King Street from the Iolani Palace and Hawaii State Capitol.

Although controversy surrounds facets of the missionaries' arrival in Hawai'i, there were unquestionably many positive aspects of their contributions (not the least of which was putting the Hawaiian language into writing). Hawaiian Mission Houses continues the positive tradition and I'm a big fan of HMH, especially their live performances, both plays and concerts at the Historic Site and at the O'ahu Cemetery for their famous #cemeterypuputheatre events every summer!

I discovered the Mission Houses while walking to the Iolani Palace for a tour there, so these two are very close and you could do them in one day if you plan ahead. The tour guide was super knowledgeable and had answers to all of our questions about what we were seeing or what she was telling us. We were a small group of 5, which was a good size for maneuvering the smaller spaces and visiting the rooms.

This tour added another layer to the history and my understanding of Hawaii. I especially enjoyed learning how the written Hawaiian language came about.

We've done a tour here twice, and both times it was fascinating. The docents have a wide breadth of knowledge about not only about the missionaries, but about Hawaii history. The other night we attended performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream in pidgin. It was fantastic and loads of fun. Definitely two thumbs up!
