My husband and I stayed at the Anantara Golden Triangle and we took this cooking class. I cann't believe what an amazing experience it is. Shopping to the local market, have a cup of tea as you see the news and the drive to the village. It was all so very wonderful. Ms. Parinda was amazing and so very knowledgeable. And the food...it was soo delicious. The Tom Yum was the best of the three dishes we made. I wished I had more time to learn even more.

My wife and I were staying at the Anantara Lawana resort and optioned in for a cooking experience. In saying this, you can also option in for the experience even if you aren't staying at the hotel.
We were welcomed by one of the lead Chef's of the hotel (Adam) who took us on a local journey into the markets explaining some of the local / cultural key ingredients used in Thai cooking. Adam was fun and very knowledgeable given he also grew up and resides on Samui with quite the passion for food.
The experience included a visit to see some of the local Thai culture at the temple followed by returning back to the hotel to cook and eat our cooking!
Sure, there are cheaper classes out there but the view from the kitchen facing the beach / infinity pool at the resort was amazing as well as having a more personalised session with Adam as it was literally just my wife and I, not a class of say 10.
It ran from 10:45 and wrapped up around 3. We were completely stuffed and had fun learning about the local cuisine as well as cooking some local delights. Would highly recommend this for those looking at a cooking class with a more personal experience and not to forget the killer view from the kitchen / dining area!

Spice Spoons is at Anantara Bophut where we were staying. My husband & I were the only two that day which made it a private lesson so we decided to open a bottle of water to enjoy while we cooked.
We visited the herb garden where we got an introduction to the herbs used in Thai cooking. It was fun preparing the soup, main & dessert which we got to enjoy as private lunch after the class.

Our lovely chef Mr. Non Santiparp just made the whole experience so wonderful, so thank you chef.
We had the opportunity to prepare 3 Thai meals, the base was prepared by the chef before we arrived so it was mostly chopping and doing the finishing part of the cooking, but we learned a lot and whatever questions we had was answered with great kindness.
After end course we received a cooking book, a copping board, apron and certificate of completion, all great and fun memory from the experience.
Highly recommend if you wish to get little bit insight into the Thai kitchen and just spend your afternoon in beautiful surroundings.

Thank you for such a wonderful day of cooking Spice Spoon Cooking Class! Our day started with a trip to the local markets , our chef explained all the different Thai spices, vegetables & herbs. I know my herbs and yet some of the ingredients were completely new to me, so it was great to see what they looked like.
We choose Chicken Satay, fish cakes for starters , then Tom Yum Soup & Chicken Coconut Soup & for mains I wanted to learn how to cook Pad Thai, Green Curry and Massman Curry. WOW! This Cooking Class was exactly what I wanted yummy Thai food broken down in an easy to understand way. Ivan Susanj was helpful and came past to ensure we were well looked after. The entire experience was worth every cent! We got a gorgeous apron, chopping board , recipe book and carry bag as part of the overall experience. Fantastic totally recommend this experience if Cooking is your thing and you want to unravel the mysteries of Thai food !!! I have no doubt that I will be going back to Australia to replicate the food that was taught to me today. Many thanks to all staff that made this experience such an enjoyable one.

Spent the morning with our executive chef and teacher, Cream, at Anantara Bophut.
Started off with a trip to the local market, looking at the various vegetables, herbs and spices that you can get. Never knew that aubergines came in so many different forms, including ones the size of a large pea! Interesting to learn about the Thai curry paste, which is essential for an authentic curry.
After the market, it was back to the hotel and into the kitchen. We had chosen to learn how to make Satay chicken to start, so straight to work in making the marinade under Cream's direction. Essential to baste the chicken satay with coconut milk as it cooks.
Once we had eaten our satay, it was on to our main course of Mango salad and crispy Sea Bass. The green mango was a first for us and a really interesting texture. Again preparing the salad and the dressing with the essential elements of Thai cooking - salty, sweet, sour. The crispy fish was deep-fried, crunchy on the outside but firm inside, set against the sharpness and sweetness of the salad dressing.
Last up, let's make Tom Ka Gai! Once all of the ingredients had been prepared, it was on to the hobs, with each of us making our soups, with just the right amount of chilli oil.
At the end of the class, we were given a set of recipe cards, covering not only the recipes that we made but more classic Thai dishes that we're looking forward to making once we get home.
Thanks to Cream for the great class and the fantastic experience for all of us.

Wow, what can I say to do this justice. First our chef Cream was lovely - very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke good English. The day started off with a trip to a local food market. It was fascinating to see all the unusual foods that go into Thai dishes. Next there was a tour of the hotel's herb garden before going to the Full Moon restaurant for our lesson. Everything was very well organised and under Cream's guidance everything was very easy to do. The secret was in knowing what ingredients to use and how much of everything. We cooked chicken satay with peanut sauce which tasted fabulous and then cooked crispy fish with spicy green mango salad. The dressing on the salad was full of different taste sensations. Finally we cooked masaman beef curry which was also delicious. We ate our meal overlooking the pool and looking out to the sea - a wonderful setting for this experience. We came away with our certificates and recipe cards ready to have a go at recreating the dishes at home. A wonderful experience.

Spent a fabulous day doing this course - mind you it wasn't all cooking. The morning was spent at the local market - got to sample fruits and sweets that I had never tried before. Some I will continue to eat others- hmmm I'll pass! After the market we had an impromptu tour of various places on Samui with a timely drink stop at The Jungle Club (what a spectacular view). Also paid a visit to grandma and grandpa rocks (i won't go into detail but this was very funny and the chef we had with us was a blast). Around lunch time we got back to the resort and got into the cooking- a little disappointed that most of the ingredients had already been prepared for us but it wasn't long before we sat down to devour our meals. Talk about yum! Particularly loved the Mango and sticky rice - I still make that today at home and the chicken & cashew stir fry. Would I do this again- hell yeah- it was fabulous! The staff that helped us wee fantastic and very friendly!

The visit to the market was excellent, we could buy some spices and leaves, with the friendly translate of the chef! He was good on communication and gave a lot of information. After the market we prepared some dishes and eat in the great restaurant of the hotel.

Friendly knowledgeable guides and an intimate, relaxed setting made this the activity of choice in our two days in Koh Samui; diving into thai culture, flavors and history, while also visiting a local temple was a unique and wonderful experience that we will always cherish!
