Explorandes Preguntas y respuestas

We have booked this trek now, but I have to more questions :-) . What time does it start in the morning, is the pick-up only from Cusco or can you be picked up in Sacred Valley? I am asking because we are departing on a Sunday and wanted to stay the last eve before the trek in Pisac and possibly do the market in the morning. Maybe not convenient? Also trying to decide which hiking boots to wear, either ankle high and light trekking boots or heavier, sturdier, more thick soled hiking boots (good for uneven, rocky paths). thanks

Explorandes was so easy to work with. We used them to do a Sacred Valley tour the days prior to the Inca Trail. They coorinated everything we wanted to see, booked hotels and provided all transportation. We departed Ollyantatambo for the Inca Trail at 7am.

Definitely ankle hiking boots. I had Keen Durand and they were perfect. Heavy soles with great traction is best since even though the trail looks smooth your footing will catch at different angles. Good ankle support is perfect for the Inca Trail.

Hi Cecilia - I'm sorry I did not notice your question earlier, please excuse this delay. The trek starts very early in the morning with a pick up at hotels around 5am-6am, as I recall. Pisac is not in the immediate vicinity, I believe they could pick you up in Ollytantambo, as we stopped there at the train station too. I think ankle high light trekking boots will be just fine. As long as they have a toe guard they will work fine for the rocks. Absolutely do bring hiking poles though. Those are a must. I brought mine from home but they seem to be available all over Cusco for around $16. Sometimes my poles were not allowed in my carry on luggage because of the points (you do need to add rubber tips for Inka trail). I had to check my bag a couple of times within Peru on some flights. I'll be sure to check here again to see if you have more questions.
