Grand old building in the center of the Miraflores antiques district. Antiques in the lobby and for sale at shops around the corner. Helpful staff. Rooms clean but basic. Close to shops, restaurants surrounding Kennedy Park and transportation.

My husband stayed at the Hotel Residence Imperiale for our last two nights in Peru.
Location:
The location for the Hotel Residence Imperiale wasn't the best…you are about a 10 minute walk from the main plaza and probably a 30+ minute walk from the coast. It really is in a totally residential area and there are no real restaurants right near the hotel. You will have to walk to the main plaza to have any sort of selection for food.
Rooms/Property:
Our room at the Hotel Residence Imperiale was very large and well furnished. We had two twin beds and there was a large closet area you could use to hang up clothes. We had a love seat and other chairs as well as a table. There was a TV with cable also. The property had a large gate on the street with a small courtyard as a sort of ‘front yard’. There is a very large lobby area with lots of places to sit. There is an elevator (the only hotel we were at in Peru with one!) which was good because our room was on the 4th floor.
Service:
The service at the Hotel Residence Imperial was sort of bizarre. When we arrived the owner greeted us (she lives on the property) and showed us to our room…but couldn’t give us a key to either our room or the front gate. She said that if we wanted to explore around to just go and she’d be there to open the gate and our door when we got back. She did always open the gate and our room for us, but it was unusual to not get your own room key. And she really couldn't tell us which way to head to do some sight seeing so we really felt lost the first afternoon we walked around. But on our second day there we did get a key and spent some time talking with the owner before a tour of Lima. She is very unorthodox and scatterbrained, but was sort of fun to talk to and eventually became helpful with restaurant suggestions. Also, we were able to get transportation to the airport from a hotel driver at the crazy early time of 330 am which was very much appreciated.
Value:
The value of the Hotel Residence Imperial was ok, but it did seem very far and disconnected from the main areas you’d want to explore. But it was nice to have a large room with a large bathroom for our last nights in Peru.
Cleanliness:
Our room was cleaned both days we were there and the public areas were also very well maintained. We were there the day before and the day of Easter so the owner let her employees have the Sunday off and cleaned our room herself.
Dinning:
We only had breakfast one of the days we stayed here and it was very good. We had eggs, rolls, yogurt and coffee/tea brought to our rooms. We didn’t know for sure if we got breakfast because it wasn’t really clear when we checked in, but what we got was a nice surprise. I would make sure to ask at checkin if you get breakfast so you can plan on the hike to the main plaza if need be.
Overall:
I had a hard time with the seemingly unorganized management at the Hotel Residence Imperiale, but a lot of that can be due to the laid back attitude in South America. We had a good room and a good breakfast which can be really hard to find in Peru if you don’t do your research. I would have like to have had more standard hotel things available, such as a map of the surrounding areas so we could explore without worrying about getting lost, but it worked out ok in the end.
