My wife and I spent a lovely four days at the Perch B&B thanks to the gracious hospitality of owner, Sharon McDaniel. The Perch is everything one could wish for: ample and excellent breakfasts; great location only 10-15 minute walk to the village; large, comfortable rooms with an amazing bed, and a room that has a private balcony to sit and enjoy the magnificent silence of nature. It is a place that we would recommend without hesitation.

Highly recommend

I have stayed at many bed and breakfasts and the Perch is definitely one of the best. All communication re booking and before arrival was very easy and emails answered promptly. Sharon's welcoming, friendly and easy going manner set the tone for the entire 4 day stay. The house is set back from the road and surrounded by trees..a beautiful setting. The downstairs room is spacious, with your private entrance and access to the balcony and opens right into the eating area in the house. The upstairs room is extremely spacious and since its the only room on the 2nd level it's like having your own apartment and is very private. The rooms are very clean and beds very comfortable. Breakfasts were always bountiful and tasty and with lots of options. Sharon was most accommodating to my need to be dairy free. Ihe Perch is ideally situated as it is close to the ferry and an easy walk to the village. All this is enough to rate The Perch a 5 star. However, my review would be incomplete without more mention of Sharon herself. She is an amazing host who warmly welcomes you into her home with an easy going and relaxed manner. She is kind and caring and wanting to help make your stay the best it can be. I had injured my leg the month before my trip and was not very mobile and in considerable pain and I felt very supported and cared for. I left feeling I had made a new friend. If looking for a bed and breakfast on Gabriola Island, this would be the one to choose!…

A most relaxing lat minute vacation!

We were looking for a place for a rest from some crazy things that have been going on in our lives lately at the last minute, and The Perch suddenly showed up on my search and caught our attentions. When we arrived, we just loved the place - so peaceful, and surrounded by swaying trees. Sharon was a fun and lovely host and was very attentive. The breakfasts were so delicious and plentiful we couldn't resist taking any leftovers for snacks and lunches while exploring beautiful Gabriola Island. When a couple of minor, random glitches in our stay happened, Sharon took care of them immediately so that they didn't become any more than negligible issues. One thing that stood out for me in terms of how great our stay was is that my wife does not relax easily after things like the recent disruptions in our lives, and I was too uptight to relax too much in a mere two-day stay. After our stay, both of us were very surprised that our short impromptu vacation was one of the most relaxing we ever had, and both of us were thoroughly relaxed and rested. Thank you very much, Sharon, for an amazing stay! I think we've found a favourite vacation place to stay! I pondered keeping it our little secret, but you deserve a shout! Lovely, comfortable, good location. Highly recommend

I would definitely stay here again. Comfy bed, lots of room with access to the balcony in a quiet treed neighbourhood close to town. BIG breakfast with lots of options. thank you for being there! Sweet doggy.
