The apartment gets plenty of sunlight and all rooms are equipped with excellent mattresses. Chiado is considered Lisbon's most elegant and trendiest neighborhood where everyone meets for coffee, shopping, or before going out for dinner. It's a neighborhood that flashes back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when writers such as Fernando Pessoa and Eça de Queiroz, used to write at the now-historic cafés such as A Brasileira which is just a few Steps from our apartment. It's also the neighborhood of theaters, of charming old bookshops and major international brands, giving it a lively cosmopolitan ambience at any time of the day. Bairro Alto is a picturesque working class quarter dating from the 16th century that has traditionally been the city's bohemian haunt of artists and writers. Its grid of streets is quiet during the day, but is transformed at night into the city's vibrant nightlife quarter. Behind colorful and graffiti-ridden façades is a variety of traditional and international restaurants, Fado Houses, and a multitude of bars and alternative shops that stay open until late at night. Throughout the week, and especially on weekends you'll find people of all ages, backgrounds, and lifestyles bar-hopping through the cobbled lanes or standing outside with a drink in hand enjoying the city's usual mild nights. This privileged location ensures easy access to the entire city and locations around the city. -Just around the corner you will find a tram stop for the famous tram number 28 that can take you to all the historic locations of Lisbon, through the downtown, to Alfama, passing the cathedral, Portas do Sol, Castle, and Graça. -The metro station Baixa-Chiado is at 350 meters distance. Here you can take the blue or green line for easy access to the entire city, including the airport. -At the main square, Praça Luis de Camões, you will also find a stop for the bus and other trams. -The railway station Rossio is at 11 minutes walking distance (950 meters). Here you can get on a train to Queluz and Sintra. -The docks and train station of Cais do Sodré are at 10 minutes walking distance (650 meters). From here you can take the boat to the other side of the river or the train to Belém, the beaches around Lisbon, Estoril and Cascais.
