After a near disasterous venue issue the evening before our wedding, our parents and good friends booked us to stay here at the lovely cottage 103. Janine was great making it all work at such short notice. We turned up about 10pm after another short adventure (our taxi driver dropped us off at the wrong address 😅) there was a beautiful bottle of riesling on the table and a lovey note from Janine. The selection of herbal teas was super appreciated being the tea drinkers that we are, and enjoying the following two mornings with a cup of coffee in bed and the lovely view of the countryside, the bees buzzing away, birds singing, and the horses playing on the fields was the perfect way to start our new journey together. Thank you, and will 100% be back here each year to relive the experience.

Utter luxury in the country. Pure bliss!
The Cottage is just beautiful. Lovely furnishings with the most awe inspiring views. We loved sitting on the comfy sofas on the deck, going for the odd beach walk, and then, when it got dark, switching on the fairy lights and having a soak in the hot tub. It really was the best weekend and just perfect after our amazing wedding. Thank you Janine and the team. We will be back.

Arrived at cottage and place was lovely however lacked the finishing touches. No outside lights worked, outside bath was dirty and no toiletries were supplied. For a five star at $400 a night we expected at least milk in the fridge. Especially when advertised as having a stocked pantry however there was only tea and coffee. Place is in need of some maintenance. Beds were very comfortable and view was amazing. Overall we were slightly disappointed.

Thank you for your review Amy. We take all reviews very seriously and have since refurbished the Cottage. Although guests loved it before, now they will be blown away. We have replaced the outside bath with a state of the art cedar hot tub surrounded by fairy lights. There is new furniture including leather sofas, skins, rugs and so on. Outside there is new furniture, beautiful lighting in the deck, and we are about to build a stunning pergola surrounded by olive trees. We have changed the wording in the description so that it is clear that only basics are provided such as tea, coffee, oil and seasonings to ensure that guests are prepared for a self-caterered holiday home. Despite that I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope you found a nice moment to drink the complimentary bottle of bubbles we left you!

Lovely Winter Weekend
We enjoyed our weekend stay in the country. The cottage was well equipped with full kitchen. The fire place was a wonderful way to stay warm on a cold weekend and there was plenty of chopped wood. The cottage was beautifully clean and the floors were so shiny. The kitchen was well equipped and you only need to take your food. Being in the country it was lovely and peaceful with beautiful country views overlooking farmland. We did have an issue with a few mice visiting coming in out of the cold which didn’t impress us but apart from the furry rodents we loved our stay.

Thanks for your review and I glad you enjoyed your special weekend away. I hope you enjoyed the bubbles too! Sorry again about the mice. When the weather turns in the country, they do try and find a warm place and they can even curl up in car and tractor engines! Sometimes they make it through the cottage defences and it can take a couple of days to eradicate them until they try again the following winter.

Superb
There aren't enough superlatives about our stay and the way we were looked after by Janine and the team.
The location of the cottage itself is about 45 mins away (straight, safe highway out of the city) and is actually quite easy to find.
The property is fantastic and easily sleeps 5 /6 people. It was winter but the bathrooms have underfloor heating, heaters, power showers and the bedrooms have standalone heaters. The living room has a lovely fireplace and there was plenty of wood and firestarters (for those that need help).
We arrived pretty late but there was a starter pack with all the info of all places that deliver food. The fridge was packed with some basics such smoked salmon, eggs, milk and butter. There was also a freshly baked loaf and the largest banana and walnut muffin we have ever seen (easily fed 5!) We were also given a bottle of bubbly, red and white wine.
The cottage also has a dryer and washing machine -both were extremely useful as we got drenched in Wellington the next evening when the heavens opened up!
We weren't brave enough to try out the outside bath but it looked great. As it was dark when we arrived the first night we didn't really appreciate the scenery however the next morning we awoke to one of the best views we have ever seen.
I have travelled the world extensively and stayed at some of the best hotels but this place is just something else. We are already making plans to go back next year.

gorgeous cottage perfect for relaxation
We had a lovely 3 days at this gorgeous cottage. It's private, beautifully furnished and impeccably clean with a wonderful outlook. Comfy beds and open fire and outdoor bath a highlight. Stunning views from every room. Recommend stocking up on firewood if you go in winter. Great place to relax, cook, read and enjoy down time.

Fabulous Place to relax
Fabulous place to stay for total relaxation. Quiet and peaceful with stunning views. The 2 claw foot baths have bubble bath supplied and even a welcome pack is there on arrival.
Will definitely be back again as our two young boys also loved the house. Very private and immaculately clean.

A stylish, modern take on a classic farm cottage.
We enjoyed a week at Cottage 103 after a family wedding last September. We didn't really know what to expect as it was our first trip to NZ, but the Kapiti area is ideal for a relaxation holiday. There was plenty to do, but the cottage was a great place to relax. We did a big load of shopping in Wellington before driving up and then used the chef's kitchen to make some lovely meals at home. Janine (the owner) also organised for a local restaurant to send a three course meal around to the house one evening which was a real treat.
The house itself is very modern and tastefully decorated, with an open fire, rich furnishings, satellite TV and a large deck overlooking the valley.
My partner made friends with the neighbours (a pony and a donkey), and we enjoyed a day trip to Kapiti Island, walking in the hills and an afternoon of quad bike riding.
We travel frequently and both agree that this was one of our most memorable, and our most relaxing trip. We are in the process to booking another trip to NZ, to return to the Cottage.

I rented the cottage as the place to spend our wedding night, as we had rented their venue next door to have our wedding reception. I cannot think of a more stunning place I have ever stayed in, and I have been to some really high end hotels etc in my time. The bed was the most delicious comfortable bed I have ever slept in and the entire cottage has been fitted out to the highest standard. I was dying to have a bath in the outside bath but it was too cold as we had not great weather oddly at that it e of year, so I had one in the beautiful bathroom, one of two. We did not want to leave. If you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area, don't muck about, book in, you will not find fault in anything. Janine is also delightful to deal with, very organised, efficient and has an easygoing relaxed and honest manner. You have to stay!
