This place is horrible! The house was absolutely filthy upon our arrival. There were cobwebs everywhere, mold in the kitchen compost, the beds were not made. We spent our entire first day cleaning. We contacted the owner and sent her pictures and she offered a partial refund which she later refused to honour. The dishwasher was unavailable for use, and we found mice droppings in multiple places including the couches. Because of this we didn’t want to use their dishes, so we had to keep buying paper plates, and plastic utensils. Thank goodness we brought our own cookware.
The bbq outside was a complete disaster and again we spent hours cleaning it -all with our own supplies that we had to go buy because there was no cleaning supplies in the house. The grounds were overgrown and all the outside furniture was dirty and practically falling apart. The waterfront area was left a mess, with food and other garbage left in the fire pit.
We told the owner upon booking that we were going to bring a boat, which she said was fine. We bring the boat and to our surprise there was not one cleat on the dock to tether our boat to. Again, we had to go out a purchase cleats at our own expense, which the owner never reimbursed us for. The owner sent someone to install the cleats, however due to a combination of incompetence and the dock wood rotting, the cleats did not hold and completely broke free of the dock. We ended up pulling the boat out only after a 1 day, because we couldn’t tie it down properly.
We had a major issues with the toilets and septic system. My brother in law spent one entire afternoon unclogging toilets as they were overflowing. The very next day, it was a complete and literal crap show. The toilets completely overflowed and we could not fix them. We went out and bought a new plunger, because the one they had was useless. We called the owner, who after our demanding that she do something sent over a plumber many hours later. He snaked the toilets and concluded that there was no clog, and that it was an issue with the septic system. Because all of the toilets were overflowed, we had to leave a day early. We were kind enough to stay and clean the property even though we could not use the toilets. Unfortunately, we had to leave garbage and recycling bags in the garage because the dump was closed on the day we were forced to leave.
We contacted the owner regarding the promised refund and in fact we wanted to negotiate a larger refund based on all the additional problems such as time lost, money spent on plumbing/cleaning supplies, dump fee’s ( we had to do a dump run mid week due to all the extra garbage/recycling from the disposable plates, cups, and utensils) not having the use of our boat, which was a major part of our entertainment, and losing an additional 2 days of our holiday due to plumbing issues. My sister, who
is a cancer survivor uses adult diapers which we put in a sealed garbage bag. The owner denied that there was anything wrong with property and refused to even give us our originally agreed partial refund. She later tried to claim that the diapers she found in the garbage bag were flushed down the toilet, which is ridiculous. I’ve never tried, but I don’t think a diaper would go down a toilet. Also this contradicts the plumber who used an industrial snake and could not find a clog anywhere in the pipes.
The owner tried to claim we smoked in the house, which is completely untrue and that the house was clean upon our arrival even though she admitted earlier that her cleaning lady was sick and that’s why the house was not cleaned.
One of the kids leaned against a small side table in the living room and it broke. When we looked at it we saw that had previously glued together, so we glued it again.
We are are appalled that the Poonam the owner, advertised this as a luxurious property when it is in such disrepair. We are also very disappointed in her lack of responsiveness, and her not honouring her promise to partially refund us. The booking agent told us they tried to convince her to honour the refund she originally offered, but she refused. However, I should not be surprised as one day during our stay, we were visited by a local landscaper who was looking for payment on a job he did at the property 3 months prior. He told us she refused to respond to any of his attempts to contact her. He also told us that he drives by the property regularly and there is never any there. That is why he stopped when he saw our vehicles, hoping it was the owner.
In summary, there is a reason why the reviews are years out of date. This property is terrible and the owner is untrustworthy!
